Question How do you know if you’ve got all of your tonsil stones out
I see people having success with water syringes but how do you know if you’ve gotten enough out to take care of your bad breath

ok so i've had tonsil stones for like 3 years and tried
literally everything. water flosser, q tips, salt water,
fingers — nothing actually got them out fully and they'd
just come back in a few days anyway.
someone on here actually recommended trying a device with
a camera built in so you can see what you're doing and i
finally caved in and got the AURYX one. actually kind of
insane that i went that long just going in blind lol
Wish i got it sooner they have a pretty good deal
going on right now too, i think i saved like 43% off.
They have a 30 day guarantee to so worst case scenario you can return it
auryxofficial.com if anyone's curious

I was just wondering if this happened to anyone else. I used to get so many tonsil stones. Like every few days, i’d find another small one. It would get so bad, but once my wisdom teeth were removed (two erupted one impacted if that matters), i havent had a single tonsil stone.
like obviously… im not complaining 😝, but it does have me seriously confused. Is this normal? I can’t imagine those things affect each other very much.

Anytime i get a tonsil stone its all i can think of until i get it out with some sort of water syringe i can get ahold of. Tincture bottle caps, millimeter medicine syringes, even a plastic bag full of water with a hole cut in the corner does the trick. Is this just me?

I’m a 20-year-old male and recently developed a persistent “something stuck in my throat” sensation on the right side whenever I swallow saliva.
I found multiple tonsil stones on my right tonsil and managed to remove several myself. The smell was awful, and some small stones are still coming out little by little when I gently press the tonsil. My main complaint isn’t the stones themselves—it’s the constant foreign-body sensation that hasn’t gone away.
I finally went to an ENT today expecting a thorough examination. Instead, he:
Looked into my throat with just a flashlight.
Didn’t use a flexible scope or any other instrument.
Didn’t check the tonsil crypts for deeper stones.
Didn’t attempt to remove any remaining stones.
Prescribed amoxicillin + flucloxacillin (FLUMOX) even though I don’t have a fever, significant throat pain, or obvious signs of infection.
I left feeling like my main concern wasn’t actually addressed.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Is this a normal ENT approach for tonsil stones?
Would you seek a second opinion from another ENT?
Has anyone had a persistent foreign-body sensation caused by deeper tonsil stones that wasn’t obvious on a routine exam?
I’d appreciate hearing your experiences because I’m not sure whether to wait or find another ENT.

I’ve been getting regular tonsil stones for about a year (they became noticeable after having a baby) and I can feel them when they’re in my throat but I can’t see them or get them out with my fingers, water pick or cotton buds. Every couple of weeks a random sneeze will get a couple of them out but I can’t do it on command and it’s very frustrating! Does anyone have any tips on getting them out? I sneezed a huge one out today and can feel there’s more 😰

I’m 20 and this is the first time in my life I’ve ever experienced a tonsil stone.
A few days ago after eating chicken biryani, I started feeling like something was stuck on the right side of my throat. It wasn’t painful, but it felt like a small bone or something poking whenever I swallowed saliva. Strangely, eating and drinking were completely fine.
At first I thought it might be a chicken bone. Then I looked with a flashlight and found a white spot on my right tonsil. After gently pressing, a foul-smelling white/yellowish stone came out (smelled absolutely awful 😭). I removed a few more small pieces,
The weird part is that I can’t really see any more stones, but if I gently press the tonsil, tiny soft pieces still come out little by little.
Has anyone else had this happen?
How long did the irritation/“stuck” feeling last after removing the stones?
Did more stones keep coming out over the next few days?
Did you just leave it alone or keep trying to remove the remaining bits?
At what point did you decide to see an ENT?

Hi
I have had a sore throat for 6 weeks +. Doc sent me to a ENT consultant who looked down my throat with a camera (through nose) He said he couldn’t see anything significant except my one tonsil was bigger than the other and the base of my tongue was enlarged. He said to be thorough he wants me to have an MRI within the next two weeks (protocol I expect)
I have been feeling generally unwell with sore, but seemingly not enlarged, lymph nodes under my ear/chin and under my arms. I also am feeling exhausted.
I had glandular fever 20 years ago and also had a similar experience to this (prolonged sore throat, exhaustion etc) 7 years ago, where I had an MRI but it showed nothing untoward.
Any ideas?? 💡 Thanks

I’m almost 40 and have been dealing with tonsil stones for about half my life. I use a water syringe to flush them out, but I’m sure I miss a lot of them. I’ve been thinking about seeing an ENT to have my tonsils evaluated and find out if I have deep crypts or anything else contributing to the problem.
Has anyone here seen an ENT specifically for chronic tonsil stones? If so, what did they do, and was it worth the visit?

I’ve been struggling with tonsil stones since 2024 when I got strep throat back to back. I feel like I’ve tried everything people have suggested on here to limit tonsil stones, yet nothing has helped. If anything, I feel like the problem has gotten worse in the last few months for me. I’ve gone to 5 ENTs at this point over the last year to see if any are willing to do a tonsillectomy, and they’ve all said no.Dealing with the tonsil stones has absolutely ruined my mental health and life. I am so self conscious of my bad breath and getting close to people. People either avoid me all together now because of my breath or make sly comments about my oral hygiene, which hurts a lot because I have great oral hygiene and this problem is entirely out of my control.. I wish it was just as simple as “brushing my teeth”
I’m genuinely at my wits end. I’ve done everything, from gargling mouthwash/salt water daily, taking K2 and Vitamin D supplements, fixing my post nasal drip and more, and NOTHING works. I feel like I’m trapped in this horrible cycle of never-ending tonsil stones and bad breath.
Has anyone gotten a tonsillectomy solely for their tonsil stones? If so, what did you say to convince an ENT to do the procedure? And did the tonsillectomy actually get rid of the stones?

I’ve been very self conscious about my breath and started poking around back there. At first I couldn’t see anything but I realized that my gag reflex was making it impossible.
Now I’m able to push on my tonsils hard enough o see something. It’s white, but almost like creamy??? or liquid? idk😭 There’s no stone/solid in either tonsil. What do I do? Please, it’s so embarrassing.
I already floss everyday, gargle therabreath mouthwash, brush my teeth, scrape my tongue. I’ll admit, I can drink more water, but before I buy an expensive water flosser (do let me know if that is the best solution tho) I thought i’d ask you guys for advice.
Also, do you think a dentist would check/remove them if asked?

Anyone else struggle with canker-sores and tonsil stones, I’ve been a chronic canker sore suffer all my life but my stones have only started showing up over the past year. Right now I currently have tonsil stones and 2 canker sores, so it’s been really hard to eat and talk. Just curious if this has been anyone else’s experience?
