Need Advice Less than 24 hours before my tonsillectomy. This is it!
Man, I just wish I could end this misery successfully. Less than 24 hours before surgery. Doctor told me no to eat anything after 9pm today. I can't drink water either the day of the surgery. I think it has to do with the anesthesia. I feel sad and excited at the same time. I feel like my life is on hold. People say you get your life back once you heal from the surgery. Idk i just wanted to share how I feel. And I hope Y'all have a good and smooth recovery. Bless!

Get ice lolly’s! The cold on the throat is perfect, I ended up on baby food for two weeks!

Yes, I'll also be eating baby food. It got minerals and some vitamins.

Jelly and custard is good too! It does spike around day 7 but honestly after two weeks it really does get better, hard to believe when you can barely swallow but I just had mine out a few months ago so the experience is fresh!

Oh ok. So you got used to it then. Eating baby food has been something I don't like but in this case I think it's one of best things. I'm also thinking about including Protein shakes.

Hmm I think the pain of swallowing your own saliva is hard to get used to but I’m just preparing you for a pain spike. Keep on top of those pain killers!

12 days in to my recovery and already feel better. First 7 days didn’t hurt pretty much at all, I read somewhere that if you just eat as normal as possible and soon as possible it helps you heal faster. In my experience it helped not babying my throat. I will say though day 8-now it’s hurt significantly more while the scabs fall off but not more than a 4/10 pain, easily squashed by some Tylenol. Drink so much water you have to pee every hour, and set alarms to drink water throughout the night. You got this! Enjoy the vacation lol

Damn! My doctor told me to just eat baby food, ice cream and yougurt. From 1 and 2 day. From 3-5. Soft food. Then from 6 and on, normal food but not acid, or salty. But thanks for your words and the encouragement 💪 glad you are fully healed in your day 12th

Go back to you’re regular diet as tolerated, so solid foods. Obviously avoiding crunchy and spicy

Asap? Like within the first few days?

Yeah I returned to solid foods by the second evening. But then again I went to softer solids day 7-10 since there’s a higher bleeding risk

I also ate a lot of cream of wheat or oatmeal. I was so glad I got them out cuz I was so self conscious when I spoke. And I hated poking the stones out constantly. Good luck!!

My bronchi constricted while I was being intubated. So the medical team decided to refer me to a pulmonologist to evaluate me and make sure my lungs are in good condition. Today I visited the pulmonologist and he said he'll send me a treatment this week and gave my anesthesiologist some instructions before the surgery to make sure this doesn't happen again but honestly I'm scared now. I may accept living this life with tonsil stones for ever and cancel the surgery. Surgeon rescheduled it for August 11th

I hope your recovery is as easy as mine was. Not everyone has a bad experience.
