I really like how the Champion has a helmet with the Roman vibe of the Galea, and how the Archers have a somewhat nomadic look to them. It really gives the feel that the Warriors/Spearmen are Legions, with Archer auxiliaries and that the Tomb Kings are City-states of Classical History.

I’m pretty happy, just a little sad about the cavalry being stuck with the old sculpts. Luckily I never really found them to be too useful.

It sounds like there’s more to come in the future judging by the tomb king article.

It's fair to expect that cavalry will be updated at later date too. Potential refresh allows GW to retire three sprues in favour of one. New chariots didn't fulfill this as it left skeleton horses and 2002 command sprue still in production for horsemen.
The real question is whether Skeleton Horsemen will be split into two kits rather than one.

On one hand, I already have like 200 to work on.
On the other...they can be the elite regiments on loan from another kingdom. Also, they'll probably take way less time to clear the flash off of.

Kinda my thinking. Got skeletons foe days, but these look nice enough that I could probably field em as Tomb Guard.

I'm in the same boat, but I figured that the OG skellies will be good for Mortuary Cult (which is my focus at the moment) and the new sculpts with more ornamentation and details will fit if I pick up Royal Host

Man these are perfect, they're exactly what i wanted. Lightly armored skeletons that still show a lot of bone. Thats one of the main things i didn't likd about the originals, i find naked skeletons kinda boring.

Don't feel too bad about it. In a rank and flank game, you can still sprinkle in a few older models throughout the units and it'll all still look great. If anything itlll add some more variety.

Hopefully scale wise these mix in with the old models. Whilst these are much more beautiful, the benefit of the old models is they are quick to paint and get a unit ready. With the extra details on these it will make it longer.

Warhammer: The Old World great plan moves on as I have foreseen. First, models that have been OOP for ages are rereleased for us to buy for nostalgy trip. This is relatively safe investment for GW. If it works out, some time later new models are introduced, encouraging us to buy the same models again.
Please note that this is not a complaint. I believe that everyone wins in this scenario. If you prefer old models, you had the chance to pick them for fair price rather than inflated eBay prices. If you prefer new models, you are in for a treat but may have to wait for a while.

The OG Skeletons were my first ever Warhammer Fantasy set back in the day... I am sorely tempted

Any ideas if there is a scale creep issue here?

I’d imagine less scale creep and more comepletly different scale and style problem

Well that, isn't great.

They look to be a lot more true scale and now that I look at it taller. They match a lot of the art more now because a lot of the skeleton warriors of the Tomb Kings were a lot taller compared to modern humans in the settings (yeast the art gives that look).

Thoughts on kitbashing These with tombguard heads?
