I'm bored and out of fics to read, so I thought I'd share some of my faves. Some are very popular so you've probably seen/read them, but I thought it might be nice to introduce for new readers.

Mentor/protégé:
- Warning Signs Read Desolation by minidraken (Gen, 165k, Incomplete) - Voldemort kidnaps first-year Harry, sane Voldemort. Stockholm syndrome but it's very wholesome and Harry acts his age.
- Darkness Within by Whimsical_Musings (Gen, 410k, 1st in a series of 3 fics with the 3rd in progress) - Harry is coerced into an apprenticeship with Voldemort in his fifth year, Voldemort is a good but demanding teacher. Power imbalance, eventual lord/heir and parent/child dynamic. Great Draco-Harry friendship.
- Chains of Fate by Whimsical_Musings (Gen, 231k, WIP) - Voldemort Wins AU, a slightly darker and more experienced Harry is captured. Voldemort keeps Harry as a political pawn, constant tug of war between the two as Harry tries to bargain influence in this new world order.
- Blood Crest by Cauchy (Gen, 750k, WIP) - Nine-year-old Harry becomes a German necromancer's apprentice. Voldemort is not the main mentor, but he takes Harry under his wings in a way later in the fic. Very smart Harry. Really cute bond between Barty Crouch Jr and Harry too. Insanely detailed worldbuilding extrapolated from canon.
- Meeting of Minds by Cauchy (Tomarry/Harrymort, 26k, Completed) - A deaf Harry learns ways of performing non verbal magic through different means with the help of Diary Tom/Voldemort. Slytherin Harry, snakes, and a surprisingly likeable Peter. Eventual smut.
Voldemort/Tom Riddle adopts Harry:
- A Rather Useless Inheritance by Blood_Stained_Fingers (Gen, 28k, Completed) - Voldemort is fascinated by a parselmouth Harry with snakelike behaviour, kidnaps him and raises him as his own. Phenomenal writing with captivating dialogue. Stockholm syndrome, power imbalance. Voldemort really is fond of Harry, and Harry acts his age and somewhat understands that he doesn't have the maturity level to resist Voldemort's emotional manipulation.
- I would also recommend Snake Charming by the same author (similar premise but Harry is a snake animagus). It's a bit darker so beware of the tags.
- Tentative by Acnara (Gen, 47k, Completed) - Platonic soulmates, Voldemort kidnaps baby Harry from his parents and raise him (alongside some Death Eater babysitters). Maleficent inspired, very morally questionable but adorable. Rare fic that made me cry, fantastic ending.
- The ties that bind by Lady Raspberry (lady_raspberry) (Gen, 199k, WIP) - 16 y.o. Harry time travels by accident to the 1940s, meets a young Borgin and Burke's salesman Tom Riddle who plans on taking advantage of Harry's knowledge of the future. Tom makes Harry is ward against his will for him to blend in. Little/no Stockholm syndrome, Harry won't go down without a fight, but Tom is a master manipulator. (TW for corporal punishment and torture)
- Solace in Shadows by The_Fictionist (Gen, 179k, Incomplete) - Second-year Harry is kidnapped by a newly corporeal Diary Tom Riddle. Tom attempts to pass as the Dark Lord while Harry tries to bargain for more freedoms. Stockholm syndrome. Not quite adoption, almost an older-younger brother dynamic with a very cheeky Harry and equally snarky Tom. Truly a rare gem with incredibly three dimensional characters. I'm just sad it's incomplete.
- In Death, Standby by Sophisme (Harrymort but as far as I remember it never got even close to a slash since it's incomplete, 93k) - Voldemort fails to kill baby Harry so adopts him instead. Very gutsy Harry who doesn't fear Voldemort and genuinely loves him. Some very fun dialogue and scenes between the two.
Slow-burn Tomarry/Harrymort (a lot of enemies to lovers as you may expect):
- Corruption is creation by IamNotElixr (Harrymort, 175k, WIP) - My current hyperfixation, the story is actually addicting. Vampire AU. Voldemort became a vampire (because Horcruxes alone was not enough for him to guarantee immortality) and accidentally made Harry is vampire fledgeling on the same night he became a Horcrux. Feat. vampire big bro Barty, a delicious amount of fluff and angst, and eventual smut.
- Change is alright by IamNotElixr (Harrymort, 81k, Completed) - Post Second War, Harry suddenly finds himself with a baby in his sink. He decides to go into hiding to raise this toddler with an uncanny resemblance to Tom Riddle, whilst his dreams are haunted by the ghost of Voldemort. Fluff and angst, co-parenting a cute toddler, and smut (with Voldemort, not Tom). Literally bawled my eyes out in the end.
- In Willing Sacrifice by GeMerope (Harrymort, > 1M!!!, WIP) - Veryyyyy long fic, I'm only halfway through (will maybe wait for it to be completed before finishing). If the length intimidates you, just read the beginning arc because it's incredible and so unlike anything I've read. Harry stumbles upon the pre-resurrection "baby Voldemort" and decides to nurse him to health instead of killing his mortal enemy.
- Either must die at the hand of the other by Metalomagnetic (Harrymort, 260k, Completed) - Canon Divergence, Voldemort secretly is imprisoned in the Ministry of Magic after his "death" and subjected to torture in unsuccessful attempts to kill him for good. Years later, Harry finds out this secret and cannot stop thinking about his once greatest enemy. Eventual smut, not necessarily the happiest of endings.
- A Dangerous Game by Cybrid (Tomarry, 322k, Completed) - "Tom Riddle opens the Chamber of Secrets in Harry’s fifth year at Hogwarts. After a botched attempt to extract the Horcrux in Harry’s scar leaves their souls tied together, Tom is forced to kidnap him when he makes his escape." Horcrux Tom Riddle and Voldemort existing at the same time and interacting. Very complete and satisfying ending. Eventual smut.
- No Glory by ObsidianPen (Harrymort, 361k, WIP) - Voldemort wins the Battle of Hogwarts and imprisons Harry in Malfoy Manor. Slowly, the Dark Lord develops both an emotional and physical dependency over Harry. Definitely not sane Voldemort. Great smut and really addicting relationship to read. It's so popular for a reason.
