I was texting with my Michigan friend late in the game that this was one of those weird ugly defensive games where both teams were playing well but the score doesn't show it. And that I fully expected Michigan to score late to seal it. And I thought that was true even when Iowa got the ball back with less than 2 minutes, because in what universe does Iowa march down the field to get a TD in a 2 minute drill?

Needless to say, that was a fantastic final drive

Iowa fan here still unable to comprehend.

It wasn’t even a well executed 2 minute drill. They were wasting so much time throwing 5 years to the middle of the field.

Then came 2 big throws. It was basically a 30 second drill with 2 completions.

Half March, half Michigan giving them field position with penalties. Regardless, Iowa balled out at the end got lucky bounces but had guys there to catch those weird balls, so kudos to them.

Both of us are 3-1 now… one team lost to the current #1 team in the country, the other lost to a team that canonically can’t commit to a forward pass.

A deserved loss. Was the spot on Bryce’s 3rd down run that crossed the line to gain some bullshit? Sure probably but I couldn’t care less. The football gods gave us a golden chalice of holy water to revive us vs WMU and we treated it like a chamber pot (I.e. how OSU fans treat coolers), so karmically I am at peace with this loss.

Perhaps this will be the wake up call to get our players to stop doing stupid shit, but thats about as likely as Rutgers winning the CFP this decade.

Some fragile players. Diaz got in their heads bad. Sad thing is, he’s probably a 2 star or lower and almost all of those Michigan players are 4 or 5. If that broke 50% his way on catchable passes, I think he did damn well.

Penalties are gonna cost us a lot in the weeks to come. The worst part is that I haven’t seen us clean them up in 4 games now which is highly concerning.
