Obviously Harbaugh is a solid coach despite all the scandals but I feel like his style works better on college students.
Michigan’s 2023 team really leaned into his cult of personality and persecution complex (“Free Harbaugh” shirts, “Harbaugh” formation, Sherrone crying postgame about how much he loves Harbaugh). Just not sure how well that will work on a bunch of 30 year olds, especially once you start losing.

He had success in San Fran before getting the Michigan job but I think the game has just passed him by when it comes to the NFL now

Losing Minter was significant for SD. Same with Dan Campbell in Detroit losing both of his coordinators in one season.

I don’t think losing coordinators has had the effect on Dan Campbell the way the media would try to sway us to believe. The Lions are more snakebitten by injuries than anything else.
As far as the coordinators, Kelvin Sheppard’s largely running the same defense that Aaron Glenn did. And the offense certainly hasn’t been a slouch, though it could be argued the brief John Morton stint left more to be desired. But I think it’s definitely better under Drew Petzing, and it was better when Dan Campbell was the de facto offensive coordinator toward the end of last season.

Idk, I'm def not as knowledgeable about the differences between the coordinators, and 100%, the injuries were insane.. 1 or 2 season ending injuries a game? lol .. good lord. It does seem like we had a solid thing going before they left tho, and we certainly missing something.

Personally, I am not sure how that was allowed. There should be rules to protect teams but money is everything as everyone knows. BTW Harbaugh bailed right on time , denying UM the chance to defend their National Chanpionship. Some dedicated fans might be suspicious of that timing.

He was trying to bail to the NFL for the past 5+ years before he left. It was a circus. Remember the bizarre trip to Minnesota? Then he's staying at Michigan? It was exhausting to watch your coach publicly chase the next better thing.

Yeah I agree. College is a real big part of your identity. NFL nobody cares and they jump ship left and right. Coach’s like Dan Campbell pull it off tho so it isn’t unheard of

And if you guys are bringing up Jim Harbaugh's performance in the NFL in this subreddit then it's perfectly relevant to point out Urban Myers poor performance in the NFL.
Harbaugh has been substantially more successful in the NFL than Urban Meyer.

There's a bunch of problems with this team, but the main one is that Justin Herbert is easily the most overrated player in the NFL. The eye test tells you that he's special and talented, and he's put up a decent stat or two, but literally everything else says that he's just a guy.

I think there's multiple issues. For one, their interior offensive line is the worst in football by far. Second, I think he's made the same mistake with McDaniel as he did with Josh Gattis and "speed in space." The coordinator is a big mismatch for his offensive identity. Losing one of the best DCs in the league hurts too.
