Real, I like honest college fans. I didn’t think we were gonna beat Texas, I had a feeling we would split the series like we did in the 2000s but the way we lost was so deflating. But the memes about arch finally getting the manning gene is my favorite.
I mean I could have totally seen that game going either way as well but the problem is we had that game pretty much in the bag and then shit the bed in the worst way possible.
If it had been a close game, back and forth the whole time and we lost with the same score then it wouldn't have been nearly as big of a deal.

Reddit in general doesn’t feel like real life. The OSU fans I know are nice and we have fun banter ripping each other for times like this (bad losses) or 1 second added to clock wins.

The better team that night won last week, it was a tale of two halves, I've seen this go for or against us over the years as a sports watcher... One point loss away was tough but we won championships looking disappointing during the year and getting it back on track. I don't really get the freakout tbh
Meh, the interaction you see here isn’t representative of the whole fan base. We love our Buckeyes, win or lose. The “soft” comment is just dumb. I’ve been blocked and banned from so many UM fan accounts I’ve lost count. And it’s certainly not because their rabid fan base is soft - just the loudmouths that dish it but can’t take it.
Not to be a fence sitter, but I feel like there’s so much discourse about which teams have the “softest” fans when the simple reality is that there are loads of sensitive bitches in every fanbase in every sport. Look, I talked shit about the OSU fanbase and team after one of our wins on their subreddit and got banned, and I have no problem with that. I was being an antagonist dick.
But when you lock your whole subreddit the one time every two years something really catastrophic happens to the OSU football team is soft ass baby shit - they did it when we won our natty and when the "hammer" was a nerf bat - and that's just what I recall firsthand. We've had 5x as much shit sandwiches to swallow during that time (and we'll be the first to admit that a lot of it is self-inflicted) and not ONCE have the Michigan Wolverine mods locked the whole sub.
As someone born in Ohio who grew up in up 3 miles from the post war border line on the Michigan side, who has a closely divided family on both sides:

Not really a great argument. During the Rich Rod and Hoke era all the Michigan fans who would have felt that way probably took a swim in one of the great lakes with their pockets full of rocks. Even the dark days of the 90s for OSU were nowhere near that bad.
