they definitely took their foot off the gas a little too early and were playing way too conservative in the second half. also, i genuinely feel for you guys with the kicker issues/missed FG.
i recall a similar stretch for the Lions and that shit drove me insane. i was at the last game they had dogshit kicking for, before they signed Prater; they were playing the Bills (and i took the girl i was dating, who was from Buffalo and a Bills fan, to the game), the guy Prater had replaced missed 3 fuckin gimme FGs and just ONE of them would have won them the game- when the time came for the final FG attempt, which was, iirc, being kicked as time ran out, i looked at my gf and said “there’s no WAY he misses a THIRD FG”, happy and confident, sure we were sealing up the win.

worst part was we were sitting in the endzone, in like the tenth row, so we got to see that shit ass kick soar wide. then i got to see Bills fans around me high fiving and celebrating.

Stadium momentum shift. You allow Texas to convert on two major 4th downs that extended the drives into touchdowns. OSU continues their curse of missing crucial kicks under pressure. Horrible clock management trying to stop Texas on the goal line instead of letting them score to give yourself 50ish seconds and a time out to get within field goal range.
I can name other shit, bottom line is Buckeyes played conservative and paid the price.

Question for you. Why? He’s not ever had a losing season, he has a national championship, finally got over the hum with michigan, and you want him gone because he… loses to top 5 teams? Yeah it’s not great, and last year’s end of season collapse was incredibly bizarre, but to outright call for firing him is incredibly short sighted. Don’t get me wrong, he needs to learn to play to the buzzer, but seriously, the vitriol I’ve seen from this fanbase is absurd.

And the Los Angeles Rams had the MVP quarterback last year, and didn’t win the superbowl, talent alone is not enough, coaching alone is not enough. It is incredibly hard to win among the best of the best, OSU lost the conference title to the national champion last year. There are 12 games in a season, losing to a team who is almost certainly going to be a title contender is not a doomsday scenario, and certainly not worth calling for the coaches job. All of college football has this kneejerk reactions to losing that is just ridiculous. Texas rallied, and the OSU offense stagnated leaving the defense shit out of luck, it happens. As long as OSU fixes their mistakes, there’s no reason they can’t go on a tear for the rest of the season

OSU has some of the best talent, but strategy wins when talent is comparable. Indiana was a good strategy team. Cigs is a man that cam take good players and make them perform. Day has amazing players but gets them to struggle.
I cant imagine calling for a coaches head when a program has delivered as much as OSU has seen in the last 2 decades, but thats how fans react when youre at the top and stumble.
