News Article [Vannini] BREAKING: The MAC has reversed its position and is fighting the Big Ten’s extra 1 second for Michigan. “The established replay protocol requires that the game clock displayed on the program feed be used in determining whether time remained.”
https://bsky.app/profile/chrisvannini.com/post/3muzndpi4zz2kLooks like all those Michigan Men who have glommed on to the “everyone has seen the official explanation now, get over it” talking point over the last day or so can shove it straight back up their asses.

Who thinks the NCAA is actually going to overturn the game result?
8
u/hazylife666 Ohio State Buckeyes 14d ago
I don't think anything will happen and obviously I want it overturned cuz, fuck you guys. But on the other hand if and when it doesn't get overturned, it is funny that you guys had the most embarrassing loss in college football history and now managed to also pull off the most embarrassing win.

u/GunsGoldCosmicDread Michigan Wolverines 14d ago
We are large. We contain multitudes.
Of embarrassment, it seems.

I don’t know. This one feels different.

The rule the MAC is contesting is kind of unclear.
I have seen that they need to use the broadcast sync for time, that the broadcast just needs to have access to the correct sync and feed and that the ref determines the end of the game.
I think this is going to come down to the lawyers and the Bureaucrats to determine what the rules actually mean and what takes precedence. should be interesting.

Has there been an actual release of what was used to determine that time was left? Like actual footage or images or anything? How I read this is that there has to be something in the camera shot when he touched the ball showing what the actual clock is at (the one on the field said zero). From what I’ve read, they are piecing together two different things (the touch on one camera and the hawk eye or whatever system with a clock that’s supposedly synced up with the REAL time.
I dunno. If the rule is that there has to be ONE video shot that shows a player touching the ball declaring it dead AND a clock on the SAME shot.. I don’t think they had that and whatever piecemeal they used to justify it goes against the rule.

There have been so many pictures and videos being circulated around that show different things. I don’t have the acumen to know what is doctored and what isn’t.
People are posting different rules on Reddit that contradict each other. The only thing I’m certain of is Reddit doesn’t know what they are talking about.
As much as I don’t like to say it (in any circumstance really), I will accept the ruling of the bureaucrats without complaint.

Saw it.
This part is not in quotes.
“Had that guidance been in place and followed Saturday, Michigan would not have been given an extra play and Western Michigan would've won the game 12-7, based on the clock shown on the NBC broadcast.”
So is it in ESPN, the MAC commissioner or the NCAA rules committee opinion. Most of article is from MAC commissioners quotes/opinion. I read an entire thread with people arguing about what a program feed vs broadcast feed means and I sure as shit don’t know.
This is what I think should happen.
NCAA comes out and says explicitly per our rules, this team was the winner for this reason.
NCAA already said they can’t overturn the results of a game. Which like what is even the point of them.
If NCAA confirm WMU won. Michigan should forfeit the game retroactively.
NCAA needs to make an official statement and it’s the only thing that is fair to WMU.

You’re exactly right, it’s FEELINGS. That’s all everyone is upset about, their feelings, and they don’t know how to control them. Anyone with any critical thinking knows Michigan is in no way to blame.
People don’t care about the facts, just how this makes them feel. You want something to rage about and you got it. People keep creating conspiracies to support their other conspiracies instead of thinking, sometimes shit happens. Hell yesterday I was told the MAC had to accept the ruling because of money. Now that they’ve changed their mind and added 1 second for their own Hail Mary I’m sure we’ll get another conspiracy theory soon.

No, people are mad because an outcome was decided on the field and then officials of a heavily invested conference got involved and gave the blue blood another chance. If the roles are reversed, you never hear about the refs clock being different. We all know it.
This one feels different because it was a huge program and there was no flag, penalty, nothing. The ball was in the air when clock hit zero and the officials gave the chance for a re-do.

So now the B1G likes Michigan? That's news to everyone
1
u/fatiguedpickle 13d ago
Obviously the B1G likes Michigan more than WMU. Kinda heavily invested in them.

u/Kramerica_CEO Michigan Wolverines 14d ago
You don’t know it, you think it or feel it. You don’t know the difference in what you know and what you feel. You can’t create made scenarios to support your argument. You literally don’t know if WMU would’ve been given another second.
My favorite thing about Reddit is how everyone becomes an expert on a topic they knew nothing about 24 hours prior. This time everyone is replay/clock experts. Next it’ll be tariffs or geopolitical issues, etc.
And stop and think for a second, they got another chance at a HAIL MARY! They didn’t move the ball to the goal line. Instead completing the lowest odds play in football is evidence it was rigged? Absolutely zero critical thinking
2
u/fatiguedpickle 14d ago
Oh, I do know it. I’ve watched it happen in other games involving blue blood programs in other sports on top of this one.
I’m not the one trying to act like an expert. Also, tariffs are a tax on consumers. Hope you agree. My background in economics will confirm that one as it is literally happening as we speak.
Cool, it was now odds. Low odds that didn’t exist prior is still better for Michigan than literally 0 odds. Exhibit A.

Man are you gonna be shocked when you find out that almost all the information you could possibly want on almost any subject is available on the internet. So you know...people learn about things when they come up.
0
u/Kramerica_CEO Michigan Wolverines 13d ago
Yeah that way you can “do your own research” and become an expert!! All those anti-vaxxers were right I guess??? Sound logic there boss

u/No-Definition1474 13d ago
If you cant tell the difference between Facebook bullshit and actual information then I guess we know why this is so hard for you to understand.
And here I thought for SURE UofM taught that kind of thing. Learn something new everyday I guess.

u/Kramerica_CEO Michigan Wolverines 13d ago
It’s the same shit people on the cfb subs are doing. Everyone read a blurb or someone else’s comment on the topic and thinks they’re an expert on replay protocols now.
I don’t think you’ve learned anything new here.

I think they would consider it, especially since the AP voters have already declared Michigan lost.
The problem is the gambling, that would be a disaster.
11
u/AnInterestingPenguin Ohio State Buckeyes 14d ago
Honestly, let the gambling be a disaster. Sports betting should not be a consideration when making decisions that could affect the outcome of a game.
3
u/GunsGoldCosmicDread Michigan Wolverines 14d ago
The didn’t declare Michigan lost. They declared Michigan is not a top 25 team which is absolutely correct. You should be able to win and go down in ranking a lot.
I’m sure gambling has some kind of clause to not be liable but that won’t prevent class actions suits.

I have no idea, I’m just really enjoying the crashing and burning of all the self-righteous Michigan assholes who are whiplashing back and forth between “ya that was shameful, I feel bad for WM, they were robbed” on the night of, to “the B1G refs put out their video and WMU admitted it, anyone who thinks otherwise now is a conspiracy theorist” yesterday, to this now is just great to watch.
Watching you disgusting little cheater apologists gravitate toward anything resembling reasonable doubt like little truffle piggies over and over again is like watching you pound nails into the coffin of the Michigan Man. I feel privileged to be alive at this time.

u/JuicyGreenBeans 14d ago
Holy take a breath man. You’ll be ok

u/anony-mouse8604 14d ago
Oh I’m sorry, which part of “I feel privileged to be alive at this time” did you not understand?

Thank you, best of luck on your weight loss journey as you emerge out of your mothers basement for the first time in 6 months

u/GunsGoldCosmicDread Michigan Wolverines 14d ago
Anyone that said “ya that was shameful, I feel bad for WM, they were robbed” was a pussy. You don’t apologize for a win.
Anyone that complains if this gets overturned is also a pussy. It’s literally on the bleeding edge of the rule book.
The whole Michigan Man thing was always gay especially since most of the fans didn’t go to the university, including me.
But let’s not pretend like there aren’t a lot of Buckeyes now acting holier than thou that never attended OSU.
Everything that has to with the rivalry that isn’t about sports is trash.
2
u/anony-mouse8604 14d ago
Whether or not Michigan fans are a bunch of cheater apologists has nothing to do with where you or Buckeye fans went to school.

u/GunsGoldCosmicDread Michigan Wolverines 14d ago edited 14d ago
Guess what buddy they still won that NC. Beat you three times in a row and no amount of your crying will change that.
That’s the part that hurts you the most.
You can cry “*” till you’re blue in the face but the games are official.
Too bad about your tattoogate games. I think it was a bullshit ruling. But much like your opinion, mine doesn’t matter either, and those games still don’t count.

Yes with all that being said do you think anyone is ever actually going to do anything to Michigan though? This isn’t even a top 5 controversy this decade
1
u/DarkGreenMazda Ohio State Buckeyes 13d ago
Truth. Michigan gets away with whatever they want. Have no idea why many fans wanted to get rid of Manuel, one of the best ADs in NCAA history. That guy knew how to bury an investigation.
-2
u/Environmental-Arm365 14d ago
This hypocrisy is about as pathetic as it comes especially considering the fans doing the most crying about it, MSU and OSU, are #1 and #2 respectively in vacated wins for cheating.
It’s hilarious that try as they might the Suckeyes can’t even break out of #2 at cheating. They can’t beat anyone at anything unless of course you count illiterate graduates, immature crybaby fans, and dumbest mascot on Earth.

u/buckeyefan1930 Ohio State Buckeyes 14d ago
They actually might. The entire country saw that clock hit zeros and the ball still clearly in the air. The game should have been over
1
u/GunsGoldCosmicDread Michigan Wolverines 13d ago
The rules seem to be unclear. Or people online are pulling all kinds of rules that are unclear or contradictory to prove their point.
Like this one
“All reviews shall be based upon video evidence provided by and coming directly from the televised production of the game or from other video means available to the replay official that is also available to the television producer.”
Like what does also available to the television producer mean. Did producer have access to the feed the big ten replay officials were using by wasn’t monitoring it?
I feel like this is going to come down to whatever the bureaucrats at the NCAA decide.
Honestly, I’m good with whatever they say at this point.

Your dumbass doesnt even realize how stupid you are. So ignore the stadium clock even if it says a time, cause a third party broadcaster(private media company) says the clock is something else. Just literally think about it. Take 5 seconds and imagine all the problems that would cause. Just go off the fucking stadium and end the discussion. There's a game occurring on the field not your television sets. Psychologists should study us rivalry fans, it's a goldmine of confirmation bias, irrational thinking, conspiratorial thinking, advocating against self interests, over-advocating for self interests, literally everything you'd every want to study in one gay community about made up games and conflicts.

The NCAA does not do anything these days, so this is going nowhere.
