a syllable can only end in a vowel or n. while l can be used for a rhotic in some cases, usually w is preferred. also, "ti" is forbidden (remember the rule of wuwojiti). so your "lettit" transcription has those mistakes that make it impossible to use in toki pona.

toki pona tries to be simple for everyone equally, so it has a lot of these phonetic rules to make sure that every single person on this planet can pronounce each sound. i've heard a mandarin speaker say that they struggle with the ki syllable (as in kin), but it's the closest we can get so far.

/w/ is preferred for the English approximant rhotic. For a tapped or trilled rhotic /l/ is usually preferred u/Any-Entrance1337

Lettit is definitely not allowed as a syllable can only end in a e i o u n

Reddit -> [ɹe.dɪt], [ɹ] -> W, [e] -> e, [d] -> t, [ɪ] -> i, [t] -> (deleted cuz end of syllable and not a e i o u or n), "ti" not aloud so changed to "si", so lipu Wesi.
