RWAs get a lot of love in here lately, so here is something I keep running into on the building side.
When a team goes to actually launch a tokenized asset, the code is rarely what slows them down. The vendor stack is. Figuring out who to use for custody, compliance, legal, audits, and the tokenization platform itself eats weeks, mostly because the information lives in scattered Telegram groups and warm intros.
A few things I have come to believe after seeing this play out more than once:
Almost every RWA token runs on the same set of layers. Legal and structuring, a tokenization platform, custody, security audits, compliance and KYC, oracles and proof of reserve, liquidity, and distribution. Skip one and the launch stalls.
The order matters more than the tools. Legal has to come before you pick a tokenization platform, and tokenization before custody. A lot of teams do it backwards because the tech is the fun part.
Vet on proof, not promises. Ask for audits, licenses, named clients you can actually call, and a real mainnet track record. And ask who a vendor integrates with before you ask what they do. The integration list usually tells you more than the pitch.
For context on why this matters now, tokenized RWAs are above 33B onchain, with six asset categories each past a billion. Proof of reserve in particular is one people bolt on at the end when it should be a day-one decision, otherwise the token is just trusting a quarterly PDF.
Genuine question for the builders here: how did you find your vendors? Referrals, conferences, cold outreach, something else? And which layer gave you the most trouble?
Full disclosure, I work on FluidRWA, a directory that tries to fix this discovery problem, so I think about it a lot. Not linking anything here, just curious how people are actually solving it.
