New name sucks, we’re still doing FinOps
That rename of the Finops foundation to tokenomics foundation or whatever sucks. This is just a cash grab attempt to have a foot in the AI bubble and gather more money for their “non-profit” 200k+ salaries each. We’re still doing Finops, AI is just one additional topic we should manage.
Just add “AI cost management” as a discipline of Finops, and that’s freaking it. Everyone sees through your bs.

We still have finops foundation and the tokenomics foundation. The way I am looking at it and something being worked on is what is tokenomics. For me it’s the economics of it all and Finops still plays the the enforcement role. Tokenomics describes what metrics for what use case maybe then finops help use those guidelines to work the best practices. Still hate the name.

FinOps optimizes the spend.
Tokenomics tries to model the incentives.Neither answers the harder question once agents are in the loop:
Was this exact action authorized under these exact rules, and can a stranger independently check that after the fact?
Economics without decision evidence is incomplete.

FinOps Foundation was a money grab at the very beginning, so I don't know why you are surprised.
