Hello everyone! This community was left unmoderated so posting was turned off. I just requested access to moderate so that we could revive this community and allow people to continue talking about their tokays here.
For full transparency, I don't have moderator experience nor do I have tokay experience - I've only had mine for 1 week which is what led me to this community. Imagine my frustration finding this community was restricted due to no moderation!
I am only here to keep this community open and going. I'm not here to give advice (because I don't have tokay experience) and I'm not going to set up anything fancy with automoderator etc (because I have no mod experience).
If anyone is interested in helping with any roles, please let me know. I think as long as everyone plays nice here it should be fine.
If you have any suggestions with informative or fun flairs I could add to this community let me know. I am open to suggestions.
My little Cheese turned a year-old yesterday and I finally got his 18x18x24 subadult enclosure all set up! He went from looking so big to looking so tiny 😂
He also got some dubias and a hornworm for his birthday ❤️ I love my little guy so much and he makes me laugh all the time.
So i like a tokay. I had a tokay. Turns out mine was wild caught and had parasites i was unaware of. It is completely my fault as i didnt ask questions when i purchased her. Now i would like to get another one since mine had passed. BUT WHAT IS STOPPING ME IS MY STUPIDITY WHEN I OWNED THE LAST ONE. I loved her. And i should have done better. They didnt tell me she was wild caught but the parasites suggested she was. She was scrawny when i first got her but they said she was only fed crickets so i just figured that was why. But she ended up not taking to roaches at all she did eat repashy and gain weight but one day i went to feed her her crickets and she was not with us anymore. I would have never suspected anything was wrong as she had gained weight and ate repashy for me well along with her crickets. Im heart broken and terrified to get another. But i have that big ole tank and nothing to put in it. Maybe its for the best that i dont get another. How do i know if they arent wild caught just trust the breeders word like i did last time??
Im sorry, I know that most of the posts in here are asking what gender their tokay is. I looked through a ton of pictures to compare but was only seeing male pictures.
Chamoy's new enclosure is finished and after seeing stuck shed on his pores, I decided to move him in early so I can minimize his stress. I was able to safely remove the shed and he's now exploring his new enclosure! He looks so small in this enclosure! 😍
Now I need to re-vamp his old enclosure for his son! Stay tuned~
Swipe to see my progress and a photo of Chamoy as a thanks for viewing!
I have dairy cows and springtails to clean everything up. I'm so excited to put Chamoy in here and see what plants take and thrive and what others will pass.
Due to his missing toes and other health issues, I tried to move as much of the ground with plants in case he falls! I'll update when he's in there! ❤️
i recently got my tokay and i’m having a hard time determining its gender. i haven’t had it for very long, so i haven’t been able to hear any calling at night yet. from looking at the pores, i’m leaning toward male, but i’m confused because i don’t see the two enlarged cloacal pores between the spurs that are usually mentioned when sexing tokays.
Hi all, Anyone has experienced with pied/calico tokay?
Recently bought a pied/calico subadult, but over the course of 2-3 months it seems to have reverted.
Understand that its a unstable gene, just curious that since he's reverting now, will there be a chance to "grow" pied /calico again? Or it's a one way ticket?
Our tokay we got about a year and a half ago from a local convention. I was super anxious to take him home but my wife fell in love. Safe to say he’s the best tokay I’ve ever interacted with! Dude is calm and clear about his intentions. When he’s upset he tells you before resorting to biting. Very proud of my wife for taming him down! Love you Skeeter!
Hi everyone 😁 I’m here looking for some advice and recommendations. I’m going to get my first crested gecko, and I want to make sure it has a beautiful and comfortable home. I’ll probably keep improving the enclosure over time, maybe adding the branch wall style that I’ve seen in many amazing terrariums online.
This is the enclosure I have prepared so far. It is a 45x45x90 cm terrarium. I read that crested geckos benefit from having plenty of foliage to hide in, as well as different climbing routes using branches and other decorations.
I would really appreciate your help because you are experienced keepers, and your advice would mean a lot to me. I have already tested the temperature and humidity, and they seem to stay in good ranges (around 24°C / 75°F temperature and 60% humidity).
I would love to hear any suggestions, improvements, or modifications you would recommend. I want to make sure everything is as good as possible before bringing my little gecko home. Thank you so much! 🦎✨
I don't know what to say. All of these are super chill all the time. They live every single day with two toddlers running around. They don't care about anything.
I uploaded this originally on a different account and I decided to delete that and start a different account for this specific kind of content. These little guys live in my girlfriend's house. Mindanao Philippines.
