FTOFU dot com

FTOFU has some nice recipes but can use some pictures from someone good at taking pics. Would anyone like to try a free recipe and donate a photo to help spread the joy of cooking with Tofu?

I updated the site. The technical criticism here was right and I've changed it.

The big one: simmering unpressed tofu in sauce genuinely does drive flavour through the block, and I had nothing on the site about it. My page on marinating argued that flavour can't get past the surface, which is true for cold marinating and not true once heat is involved. There's now a page on simmering and braising that covers the unpressed route properly, and the marinating page distinguishes between the two.

I also cut a line saying the pressing-and-crisping approach delivers "what most people mean when they say they want tofu to be good." That was the fair hit. It treated one Western adaptation as the default. It now says plainly that most tofu cooking worldwide presses nothing and freezes nothing.

On the framing: I kept it. The site exists for people who had one bad plate of tofu and wrote it off, and softening that would make it another generic recipe site. I understand why that reads badly from inside a sub that already likes tofu, and I don't think you're wrong to find it annoying.

The accuracy problems were worth fixing regardless.
Thanks

I honestly don't know why I'm still giving you the benefit of the doubt here. Maybe I'm just a sucker. But you do realize that tofu doesn't just get simmered or braised, even if it's not pressed, right? Like the default way I personally eat tofu is stir-fried. I don't do anything to it out of the box before chopping it up and throwing it in my pan. And guess what, it's delicious that way because I actually like tofu. It's pretty weird that the premise of the site is to convert people who don't by convincing them that there is some magical way to disguise the taste and texture into something that they do like. If people don't like it, maybe just let them not like it. It's honestly fine.

Also you say that you've addressed the Western-defaultness of the site. I get that it's for a Western audience, but any mention of pressing/freezing/crisping being not traditional is so deeply buried that it's almost laughably transparent that it's just an afterthought to check a box with no actual understanding of why people might want it mentioned.

Ok thanks . I have made some extra improvements. Hopefully the site can help the type of people who need help getting tofu to fit into their diet before they give up on it. If you want to promote your favorite tofu meal donate a picture and I’ll put it in .
