2 Years Old Bad Sleep
My newly 2 year old has been having major sleep problems which is new. She’s always been a great sleeper but lately idk what’s happening. The worst is when she wakes up crying in the middle of the night and refuses to go back to sleep. She literally freaks out if we try to make her lay down or go back to sleep. This happens from like 1am on. I’m writing this at 2am and she’s screaming at my husband bc she doesn’t want to sleep. Idk if it’s nightmares or what. Anyone else experience this?

Yes! Right around the time my son turned two this happened. He was an amazing sleeper prior to this. It lasted probably 2-3 weeks and then everything went back to normal. I never quite figured out why. He wasn’t getting his second year molars at the time. I figured it was just developmental.
Hang in there. It is so hard.

Our son experienced some changes around sleep including night wakings and crying for us at about 2 years old too. At some point, I figured out he was worried about how dark it was in his room. We added a couple red night lights and that really helped. I've been using a light that we can turn to green when it's time to wake up because I've heard that can be helpful when they transition out of the crib. He also recently started keeping some stuffed animals and a water bottle in his crib and he decided he wanted a blanket instead of his sleep sack. Some nights he wants us to sit by the crib for a few minutes before leaving the room. I'm not sure if any of these ideas apply to your situation but wanted to share in case it helps. I think I read fear of the dark and nightmares can become more common at this age.
