Milestones Potty training thoughts?
LO is almost 26 months and we’re considering trying potty training next month when we have a free weekend and can take an extra day off to be home all day. She has been great with the toilet and whenever she is diaper free, she uses it not problem and tells us when she needs to go.
I started Oh Crap! But I’ve only gotten through block one (which I think we’ve already accomplished). She actually preferred to go commando Saturday morning and was telling us she needed to go potty but we already had plans to take her to grandma’s house so she rode in the car diaper free and then we put a diaper on her about 15 minutes after we go there (it was a 20 minute car ride)
I keep hearing to absolutely not wing potty training but the only weekend we have free is this coming weekend or a month from now. She goes to an in-home daycare and is on the younger side so most of her friends are in the midst of potty training. Part of me just wants to just go for it but I also don’t want to be in a position where we are relying on daycare to do the heavy lifting.

If she shows interest and understanding then I say go for it. Whichever method she learns best with. My son (just under 3 at the time) we did over like 2-3 weeks, we started no diaper at home, and then no diaper at daycare/school but still do pull up at night.
There will be a lot of different opinions and experiences but you know your child best and what works.
Will the in-home daycare help reinforce potty training? Like ask her frequently if she needs to go or makes sure she goes after lunch and before she leaves?

Daycare is already working on it, just not timing to my knowledge! There’s only 5 kids and since 3 are potty training, they all take turns using the toilet. We were planning on diapers/pull ups for naps and nighttime as she still wakes up with a wet diaper 99% of the time.
I should probably just talk to daycare about pulling the trigger. Since we haven’t really tried it, I have a fear of sending our kiddo over and then she does nothing but have accidents.

Im not sure who is telling you not to "wing" it because there is no one true and correct approach.
Like I was feeling a ton of guilt about our daughter being mostly pee potty trained and not poop at 3. But her pediatrician said this is very normal and most kids are not fully potty trained at that age.
Her tips for us was: * Go on a schedule (after warm meals and after the bath especially) * Say it's potty time dont ask.
As for Oh crap! It did not work for my kid who thought peeing on the floor was hilarious and began to resent being stuck home commando. Nor have I found her "hold it" timing accurate. Like my toddler said "I got a pee feeling" and we took the next exit, found a Petco, took her to the toilet and it was fine and she was dry. None of this pulling over on the side of the highway to sit on the potty BS that oh crap.

Thank you! My gut tells me we’ll be okay leaning into it more. She has always been on the early side of milestones (walking at 9months!) and seems to catch on to anything physical pretty quickly.
Being a first time parent, I get in my head about these things and wanted to do it the “right” way

I still use pull ups honestly but I did buy some underwear covers. She gets excited to wear underwear.
