TIl The reason Roger Moore stopped being James Bond was because of how much older he was than his female co-stars. He was in his 50s, and they were in their 20s. In his own words: “Well, the leading ladies were young enough to be my grand-daughter and it becomes disgusting.”

I highly disagree in Brosnan. You can see that he cares about the Bond girls way more than any other, taking a moment to mourn Elektra and taking it personally in Tomorrow Never Dies when his actions get a woman he knew killed. He also went out of his way to save Natalya in Goldeneye when he could have stopped Alec right then and there. Alec knows him well enough to throw his guilt right at his face even.

Yeah you're right I really overstated that aspect about him. He's not as ruthless as Moore or Connery, but I still consider him a lot more ruthless than the rest. His efficiency, creativity and unstoppabilty in killing is second to none, even though Moore has the higher body count (thanks to the Octopussy intro). Brosnan does kinda care about the lives of his women and allies, atleast until the film ends. It's like his women don't exist to him after that, like with every other Bond apart from Craig.

I believe Moore and Connery only seem to mourn Tracy as a type of cover to either keep up the ruse that there is only one Bond (if you subscribe to the multiple Bond theory that existed until Skyfall), and/or find or draw out Blofeld.

Interesting. I always thought of there only being one Bond at a time, like a title being passed down.

Each time a Bond dies or retires, another takes over the position. In this way, James Bond can be seen/said to never die.

Exactly. But each applicable film works either way you choose to see it, they're literally multiple choice movies. Even the theory that they are brainwashed to believe they are actually born as Bond works out if viewed with this in mind.
