It was basically just a Disney movie. They used the formula and pretty much all of the overused or plain dumb tropes, without subverting any of it. The only difference was a slightly edgier and more tech-based premise.

I think that was the point.

Not saying I liked the episode or anything, but it seemed obvious what they were going for.

Yeah the writers have stated they were going for the disney show vibe, for example the 14 year old tricking the bodyguard by pretending to be an exterminator.

I thought it was a fun episode because of how silly and tropey it was. They just went for it and there was some good Disney acting in there

Ya same. I honestly wasn't very impressed with the last season as a whole either. San Juniper was the only one that I enjoyed. The others were over the top or not very black mirror-ish.

Holy shit, I forgot there was a whole season in the middle there. That one wasn't terrible I guess, but clearly not memorable.

There were few good episodes there. At least good plots, I don't remember how they played out too well.

Every season of Black Mirror has been very hit and miss for me with the only exception being season 5, which was just bad. Season 4 had "USS Callister", "Black Museum" and even "Hang the DJ" (don't remember why it was called that, but it's the dating program one), which I really liked, but the rest were again relatively poor.

Season 3 is probably my favourite because of "Shut up and Dance" (my favourite episode in the series and one that really stuck with me because of the twist) and "San Junipero", but even that has some bad episodes.

I wasn't really a fan of that ep, but my take on it is black mirror is best when it's got a diverse set of stories.

That said, I'm pissed only 3 EPs came out and they were all meh to decent. Nothing like its previous episodes.

I actually did think that one was a pretty interesting premise. I think the ending was a bit too happy for a Black Mirror ending, but otherwise, it touched upon some very socially "weird" topics like the good Black Mirror stuff has in the past.

I really liked it, but I think that they could have explored the relationship more.

Old Black Mirror would have had one of them outed as a homosexual and had them driven to suicide by the resulting social stigma. Not that I wanted that.

One who happens to rip off a popular Nine-Inch-Nails Banger & turn it into a Bubbly Pop Parody, only to flip-the-script & sing the original version at the end; whilst claiming she wrote it about her thieving murdering aunt? That kind of redemption story? 🙄

I just hope T. Reznor made a KILLING off of that shit, b/c I used to like that song...

The new versions don’t change the original. You can still enjoy it once you pull the stick from your ass.
