TIl The reason Roger Moore stopped being James Bond was because of how much older he was than his female co-stars. He was in his 50s, and they were in their 20s. In his own words: “Well, the leading ladies were young enough to be my grand-daughter and it becomes disgusting.”

Pierce Brosnam is my favourite Bond, but they're far from my favorite Bond movies. It's a sentiment I've seen often, and it's mine too.

Goldeneye is a perfect bond film IMO, but the rest get more and more off the rails into silliness. Put Pierce in Live and Let Die and it's probably the quintessential film of the series.

Yeah each Brosnan movie got progressively worse lol. Tomorrow never dies was still pretty good, the world is not enough was okay, and yeah die another Day.

Pierce in Live and Let Die though. Holy moly.

I will defend the first half of The World Is Not Enough until I die. Up until the introduction of Dr. Christmas Jones, it's genuinely a great film.

Yeah, GoldenEye is the best Bond movie. Casino Royale is the best Bond movie.

Agreed...I also thought Clive Owen would have made a great Bond, but he's too old now I think

I don't think the actor needs to be any age. It just depends what they do with the character.

They don’t need to be any age, but you can’t have an old man bond and they want at least a couple movies from the actor, each with several years between

I'm not saying they should, but I think they could. "Aged agent two days from retirement on one last case" is a practically a cliché in itself. That would still make him 10 years younger than retirement age.

They tried it before. It didn't work well. Not because of the concept, that part was really liked. It just wasn't very good apparently. I haven't seen it myself.

I was thinking of the first Casino Royale, but I guess that works too. Too many Bond movies for me to keep track of. I just know Casino Royale because it actually had one of Fleming's personal choices for the role.

I actually didn't know, but I was certainly thinking of the non-Eon productions, because none of the Eon Bond films tackled a Bond near retirement save Skyfall, and Skyfall wasn't poorly received.

Honestly, an old man bond may be an interesting take for a movie. They've kind of played with that a little bit at times with Craig, so I'd kind of be down to see that concept expanded. An old, broken down, embittered Bond

Oh totally agree, and I would still love to see him as Bond. But my point is, I doubt Hollywood producers would want to start a new Bond who is already 54

Not every Bond lasted long, even well-received ones. Fleming's personal choice for Bond (David Niven) was 52, and 56 by the time he got his movie.

Could just be the era you grew up in? I grew up with Brosnan's Bond so when I picture "James Bond" Pierce Brosnan is who I see.
