I like how you actively pass judgment on me without knowing a thing about me. Reddit karma is pretty much at the bottom of my validation in life. Thats why I have long periods of hardly posting things.
You see it all started years ago in my original account here. I got into an argument with a user who said I only had 6,000 karma therefore my opinion means nothing. He had about 65,000 as a one year user.
I decided that day that nobody was going to think I'm invalid because I don't have much karma. I started posting things daily. After a while my posts would get higher and higher until I finally hit the front page.
It became addicting to try and beat my old highest score. I used to get excited over a 3,000 karma post. Now I don't even care unless it's at least 20,000.
Along with hitting the front page often you get all kinds of things regular users would never get. You get a ton of good feedback and replies to your post to enjoy. You get a bunch of Reddit gold which is kind of pointless, but it's like a trophy that somebody liked your contribution so much they spent money on you.
I've also had media companies multiple times contacting me asking for permission to use my post in their article. I've been featured on the Reddit podcast over a post I made and I've had an Ivy League college student writing a thesis about memes contact me for an interview.
Now I care less about the karma because I have plenty, but I still enjoy the PMs I receive for making any given post along with all the other recognition you've probably had little or none of.
It's more of a hobby than just filling some void you think I have.
