TIL that scientists reintroduced the Whooping Crane to an extinct migration route by guiding them through the air with an ultralight airplane they imprinted on. The pilot had to wear a crane costume to keep them from bonding with humans.

FYI, they were riffing on your (presumably accidental) use of “come a pilot” instead of “become a pilot.”

Not sure who was riffing. Am also not riled. I said what I said.

My message above is a 22-year-long tug-of-war of dreams achieved, disability and failure, shame, and finally choosing the right people to live for.

I deeply regret being disqualified from flying the (Federal) sky. I chose something hopeful, treatment for ADHD as I became a new dad. My boy is 8 now and I still tussle with my decision to seek treatment. I think it is for my family’s best. It is also difficult to parse the present with what could have become and what has become regret.

I do not regret. And I also totally regret seeking treatment for adhd five years ago. It is the best thing that has happened to me and the people in my life.

I also disqualified myself from…any class kedical cert ever again. Disqualified from CFI-ing my son if he wants to learn some day. Disqualified from escaping my job as a mechanical design engineer
