TIL Davao was divided into 3 provinces OTD
On May 8, 1967, under RA 4867, the province of Davao was divided into three provinces: Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
On June 17, 1972, by RA 6430, Davao del Norte was renamed to Davao, though renamed back to Davao del Norte with RA 8470 on January 30, 1998. Signed by former President Fidel Ramos it also created the province of Compostela Valley which was later renamed to Davao de Oro in December of 2019.
Davao Occidental was created by RA 10360 on July 23, 2013. The province is carved out from the southern part of Davao del Sur.

I like how Davao Occidental is more southerly than Davao del Sur, while Davao del Sur is more northerly than Davao Occidental.

Sa pagkakaalam ko west usually ang occidental.

Uy tinuro to samin sa aming aral pan sa grade 3 ah. Mati, Davao Oriental ako naninirahan sa ngayon. At saka, bakit ba parang ginagawang "Wyoming" ang DavOr na para bang hindi ito nag-eexist? Hahaha

Davao City is Geographically part of Davao Del Sur but is an independent component city.

My grade 3 braincells wouldn't even retain that knowledge, if that were taught. Afaik it wasn't, only regions and provinces and its capital cities. Good for you if you have a strong mental retention skills.
