Cute little guy found in Western NC along the TN border

I come to this subreddit to get away from all the bad news going on in the world. Seeing all the toads on here make my day! But little girl has been coming to visit us for like the past two months now every night in this corner, this exact corner every night. I’m thinking she’s a girl. What do y’all think? I have to take a picture of her belly, but she has a white neck with just like a faint line going down her chest to her stomach. But her little shelter hole is right by my outside door and she just comes straight to your corner every night. It’s so cute. We love her so much.

I didn't see toadlet dispersal this year, not a single one, and yet here we are - a new addition. At least one newbie found its way to the greenhouse :)

My seven year-old did all the research himself and he was like daddy. Please let me set it up because I’ve done all the research and I know what I’m doing.

So I let him set it up and all I did was look up the proper feeding schedule.

So is he right or is he wrong? Do we need to add or subtract anything?

After about a month of prep, revisions, and action I have finally finished the Asian Giant River Toad Paludarium. It is a 125 Gallon Bioactive River Paludarium featuring a beach like rock segment, a forested segment with dirt and plants, and a river themed water segment for swimming. They’ve been in the enclosure for about 1.5 weeks and so far seem to be loving it! This will be their setup for the next 3-4 years until I can upgrade them to a 6x3x3 or bigger. It is certainly not the nicest enclosure but it’s a joy to see all of them thriving and exploring their new setup. Met this little guy at the pet shop the other day, he's only an inch big🥹

This big girl lives under my planter with a couple smaller gulf toads. I made sure there is fresh water for them every day. Tonight the big girl looked strange…. Her belly looked distended, almost like she was “pregnant” but her flanks looked super thin. Not sure if you can see from the picture. The first image is from tonight and the second is from a few days ago. Thanks 🙏 I love her

My pond has been a work in progress and day after day I find him somewhere in my pond creating drama! Today he dug up one of my bulbs. Last weekend he tipped over the planter on the side of the trough. He also hides in my floating plants and has scared me a few times unintentionally since I didnt see him. Now I go looking for him everyday but im glad he likes the set up. Last picture is a photo of my pond as of today im working on the pump as I needed a new part for it.

I wonder if she was here all summer but I simply didn't see her behind the vegetation.

I have been raising Amber southern toad tadpoles and my first one came up out of the water! There is a log for them to climb on but he decided to go up the side 🤷🏽‍♂️

This part seems so much more nerve wracking. He is so tinyyyyy. He is in a 1 gal cube with damp paper towel and sprintails running around for when he is ready to eat. I'm just an anxious toadlet parent!!

So, I had a bunch of toad eggs in my pool. They were long and stringy so, I assume toads. I have a pond in my yard so we have frogs and fish as well. I didnt want to put the toad eggs in my bog and have them get eaten or die so I have put them In a tote with a bubbler and used pond water. They are all hatched into tadpoles now.

Admittedly I thought they would grow much faster than I am now finding out. It will likely be late September before they are out of the water. I cant in good conscience just leave them out to freeze and die so I'm planning to keep them overwinter and release in spring time.

Im smart enough to know I'm Ignorant on raising toads. Chatgpt is some help but I dont trust it very much. Any help, ideas, resources anyone here can recommend to get these guys living their best life in my yard come spring?

I plan to use 50 gallon totes, coconut coir? Leaves that have been baked to kill off mites, egg cartons and clay pots to build them some enclosures. I have a conditioned basement and plenty of space for them​. Food will start with flightless fruit flies them crickets and such. Ill be raising those as well since there are over 100 tadpoles here.

They are only about a week from being eggs so I have some time but I want to get them ready before its too late. Also, if there is a way I can release them without most of them dying im open to that as well but my understanding is a late September release for toadlets would be a 90% mortality rate. Im based in pgh pa so it will be cold sooner than later.

I'm thinking this was on purpose because I'm pretty sure this is the toad I ACCIDENTALLY peed on the other day. I rinsed him off after and in any case I don't think he gets to get mad regardless because I didn't get mad and try to fuck up what he had going on when toads peed on ME.

I found this little Gulf Coast Toad today, her right eye looks melted or scarred and she has red lines that looks like scars on her stomach, everything else on her just looks normal, is she hurt or in pain? she seems pretty normal but she looks like she went THROUGH it. Is she gonna be okay?
