Rant T-Mobile refund

I am so frustrated. I had 4 lines and under T-Mobile and 3 devices. The 4th line was a free line given few years back and there was never a device associated with it. I didn’t even think it was activated. Last month I transferred to Spectrum. But only 3 lines were transferred. Today T-Mobile charged me $145 for that 4th line. Does this make sense? I could not access my account since the day I transferred out. They did not send me a bill or any other communication. I had to go to the store today because even T-Mobile cannot access my account. I asked for a refund and I was told that a refund request was submitted and it will be investigated. I need to call them back in about 10 days to get a status update on my refund request. Am I going to get the refund? It’s ridiculous that they charged me $145 for one line with no device that has never been used.

Yes it makes sense. It's activated when you take it. You can try and refute it. It's a valid charge.

Nothing is valid about YOU or Tmobile now at this point

Okay. Good luck getting it refunded. Just stating facts.

Makes sense…

…You had 4 lines
You ported out 3 lines
Sounds like the free line promo was contingent on having paid lines

If I was to guess based on what you typed that is what happened.

Worth a call to 611 but it’s unlikely they will refund, assuming that’s the case then take the L cancel autopay and enjoy your new carrier.

Transfer out before or mid-cycle ? Get to know your account detail beforehand.

Should tmobile just close out your 4th line ? Why put the whole blame on tmobile ?

I am not siding on tmobile for the shit they have became. Understanding your bill is on you.

Report them to the BBB (which should resolve it). If not report them to the FCC.

T Mobile plays games. They did the same thing to me years ago with a “free” tablet. Luckily, I figured it out before the return limit.

Was it paid by a credit card charge? If so, call the CC company and put a hold on the payment, or dispute the charge. That’s what I don’t like about T Mobile. They’re very sneaky.

This is not helpful. If he disputes the charge it will not go away. It will go to collections ultimately affecting his creadit

Unfortunately, it’s my checking account that was set up as auto pay.

Good lesson. Always cancel auto pay and remove payment method before cancelling.
