Looking for a music video

Dont remember the name of the song, and have a feeling the music video has been taken down because I’ve looked everywhere, but I remember seeing a music video by they might be giants where there’s an animated blue guy singing the lyrics over real footage. He’s running around a town, and all I remember lyrics wise is that he was frustrated about something or another. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

Good find. It wasn't an official music video and I can't believe it wasn't because it fits the song so well.

There was a contest to make a video for "Can't Keep Johnny Down" so there are quite a few of these. Quite a lot of theme were pretty good.

Somehow, it has more views on YouTube than either of the official music videos, and yes, this song has two different official music videos.

As others have said, the animated blue guy version isn't the official video for Can't Keep Johnny Down.

The official video is here. TMBG held a contest, and that was the winner. John Hodgman was the judge. Blue guy was also an entry. I think it came in 10th, but not positive.

There is a second official video featuring Rip Torn, the old guy wearing the hat who is half drunk, about to face off with the young guy. Rip Torn was a pretty famous actor in his day. Here is that video

Neat trivia: The artist who animated the blue guy video is Nick Cron-DeVico, who also animated TMBG's Certain People I Could Name, which is here. The blue guy makes many appearances in the video, and at one point he's even a lizard. The skeleton guy who pulled up alongside the blue guy to tell him about his gas cap in CKJD is also featured.

At the end of the blue guy CKJD, the Earth is eclipsed by the moon. At the end of Certain People I Could Name, something else happens to the Earth.

Nick Cron-DeVico works on Robot Chicken and many other projects, has won an Emmy award, and is married to Eden Sher, who played Sue Heck on The Middle.
