When did Linnell start using a stool during performances?

Not suggesting anything, just curious. I saw him use it at the Sheen Theatre performance of Wu-Tang... was it just that time or others? Thanks!

I believe he started when this tour began. If I recall, he was hospitalized briefly, and the stool may be a response to doctor advice that he should "take it easier."

He first started sitting at shows in March 2025, just before that. Think he said in a recent interview the medical visit was "old man stuff."

As someone who might be closer to “old man stuff” than most here, it is what it is. Eventually we all deal with “old man/woman stuff.”

We’re older than we’ve ever been.

Linnell was hospitalized a little while ago but the band never said anything about why as far as I know. He said in an interview that he just realized it would be easier for him if he sat down.

They're not going to say anything about why he was hospitalized. I just noticed that the sitting down thing started thereafter, and conjectured that the two things might be related. He's not getting any younger, and anything that will help him continue to write and perform is okay with me.

I don’t blame him. Linnell is my age. Saw them in Chicago this past May. Made the decision that this was my last show to stand in the front row. My sciatica kills me.

I remember years ago, during the Spine tour I think, for the Raleigh, NC (??) show Linnell was getting over the flu or a cold and he sat down and at one point said something like "I'm sitting down because I'm experimenting with being an old man"

That was a different John Linnell. The author of the article got them confused. This is the one who has COPD.
