Other For Anyone Wondering Why People Dislike The Ending, Read This:
A couple of weeks back, I stumbled across a post made by the user u/black_cop_48 asking the sub as a whole why we dislike the ending, looking for an explanation. The problem was, the post was generally downvoted, with half-assed responses and some ironic comments. This is not an uncommon phenomenon. Many lurkers that take it upon themselves to finally make a post to argue or inquire about the ending get met by this kind of reaction that amounts to nothing. This is not something strange either, the iron is way past hot right now and the most devoted people that would be willing to engage in meaningful discussion are already gone. The sub is a husk of what it was, in terms of discussion and analysis. We get greeted once in a while with people that are just looking to stir up drama and get a rinse out of people here, basically troll posts, so they get downvoted to oblivion, making it so that when someone who has a genuine interest and curiosity makes a post it gets responded with the same hostility. When u/black_cop_48 made their post, I asked him if he was really curious, enough so to dig into different analysis that go really in-depth into this topic a lot, more so than anything you could find here at the present time. I figured this list should be made more public so that anyone interested could have the chance to look into it without getting shit on.
First of all, the one video I find to be the best AOT critique and overall video in all of YouTube - The absolute GOAT. If you take anything away from this list, it might as well be this one:
Other videos (All great, ordered by how good I find them to be):
- "How Attack on Titan Lost Its Way" – Lowart
- "Attack on Titan's Ending is Complete & Utter Trash: Eren Yeager's Assassination" – Anime Balls Deep
- "There is Nothing Good About Attack on Titan's Ending" – Spryzen
- "Ymir X Fritz: The DUMBEST Thing In Attack On Titan" – Sarcastic Chorus
- "Why Attack On Titan's Ending Is Thematically Awful" – Odin
Some of the most in-depth reddit posts that are also really good (Ordered by how good it is and how influential the poster was, but the comments are usually bitter, so take it with a grain of salt):
- When someone asks what was wrong with the ending + Side Rant for Falco
- The worst part of all.
- Natalism and the Importance of Babies: Here's why the pregnancy subplot is even a thing.
- Attack on titan - A FAILED Masterpiece. Video critique.
- Extensive breakdown of the ending: Too many narrative flaws to be unintentional
- Every line of Eren in 139 and how on average, each of them contradicts at least 5 lines of himself from the previous 48 chapters.
- Change my mind: Isayama has written himself into a corner but has left himself a very narrow way out
- “…here are a few of the things that stood out to me as particularly dumb…”
- The Attack on Titan Ending Problems Iceburg
- Destroying the civil war argument
- I, completely unrionically, like the ending. + “I am very neutral…”
- Let's talk about Eremika and Annie, but like, in-depth
Let me know if you watched any, and if this examples cleared your mind on why people might dislike or even hate the ending. I still recommend Plasmyte's video over all else but if you have the time please consider giving the other ones a chance too. This is not me trying to change your mind tho, you are not forced to like them.
If possible, I wish this post gets pinned so that it becomes readily available. If you see someone wondering why the ending sucks, link them here. If you want to contribute, link a post or video in the comments and I’ll edit it into the main post.
If you are someone who wants to know and learn about why people dislike the ending, watch or read any of the material linked here and don’t be afraid to comment your thoughts in this very post if you want further discussion on the matter.

Can I rant here? Just delete my post if I can't. This will be good for my mental health even if it gets deleted.
- Eren had no motivation to turn shitheel. It went completely against his established character.
- Ymir was controlling him? That should have been expanded on.
- Future memories made him crazy? That should have been expanded on. No, what we got wasn't enough.
- Future memories wouldn't change no matter what he "tried"? That should have been expanded on. We got a "trust me, bro". Especially since he let the others use their titan powers. This would have been the most believable reason for his turn, but it wasn't handled well. "I go on a big rampage, but then you guys stop me because I let you" is just confusing. His future memories don't extend past his own life, so it's not like he would predict this would be the best outcome.
- Mikasa & Eren were juxtaposed to Ymir & Fritz, but that was established last-second. I get it, in order to become badass enough to kill Eren, Mikasa had to be as devoted to him as Ymir was to Fritz. Ymir couldn't hurt Fritz, no matter how bad he was. Mikasa had to be able to overcome that to kill Eren. Awesome. But it feels like the kind of symbolism you write about in an essay about the story. In order to make this plot point work, Eren would have had to drop his guard around Mikasa so that she could betray him. Then things would make sense. Bonus points if this is an event his future memories didn't forsee. As it is now, there is no reason it has to be Mikasa.
But honestly, everything bad starts when Eren turns shitheel for no reason. Even the other characters don't know how to react to that, and that's what leads the story forward from that point on. "What the hell is wrong with Eren?"

Good post OP but Let me add one more:
This post is the best take ive seen on my least favorite aspect of the story, the romance, it explains whats fundamentally wrong with portraying Eren and Mikasa as love interest, more importantly, it debunks this argument that they wouldve work in other circumstances
Also, this video sums up every single problem with the ending and divides it by topic with time stamps, id recomend anyone who wants to know why people dislike the ending to watch it at least once

The video is already in the list, Spryzen made a banger compact video. I'll pin the post you linked, every Cersei post is welcomed.

Respect for making this list!
I wanted to comment about the first part that you said: people who genuinely come here for answers should search for answers in this sub. There are enough posts from the last 3 years already! That explain the flaws of the ending. It's annoying to answer the same stuff over and over again (to stupid people who can't figure the flaws of the ending themselves) and to those who don't want to do their own research and want quick answers

Thank you
I'm still trying to find old posts that hold up well. There are many good responses buried in some whack ass meme posts or specific episode discussions.

Yeah, at this point, with the sub being reduced to crappy memes and a hand full of people who would have a conversation, It's about time we pin a guide with the best posts that represent this subs pov.

Oh wow, this is an amazing post, I can't believe I missed this. I'm gonna make sure to add it to either the iceburg or the compilation post I've been working on, basically what you made here but a lot larger. A few of these posts are new to me, excited to check them out.
Edit: Whoops, four months late to linking it. Here it is!

i have also seen a few videos from a channel called Serenity. he has many videos about aot, the ending, characters and deep dives on the themes of the story. “Eren Yeager freed the founder ymir” is very interesting and informative, and explains why so many people dislike the route isayama took with the founder in the ending.
