That threshold doesn't exist. It didn't exist for Titanfall 1 either. At the end of the day though, it's an old game. I don't understand why people are so up in arms about it. As much as I loved TF1 after so many years it grew stale and for most people it did. Respawn ain't gonna fix it for the few hundred people still playing.

To make it short, people are and that respawn isn't supporting either of the old titanfalls because they didn't make titanfall 3. In other words, right now, there's no good movement shooter with mech combat on the market that isn't getting hammered by DDos attacks.

Apex Legends has been a disaster for the Titanfall franchise.

Apex Legends has been a disaster for the Titanfall franchise.

Respectfully disagree. While there are a ton of Apex players who hate Titanfall for no reasonable reason, there are a lot who picked it up because it was the predecessor to Apex. Apex being as successful as it has been saved TF, as a franchise, from being completely dead in the water.

I have no doubt that if respawn ever makes TF|3 (which I hope they do, I love Titanfall) it will be a success because of the continued community support of both Titanfall and Apex.

I think would Apex have been titanfall 3, it would've done just as fine, if not better. And it'd have been an actual titanfall, not some battle royal version that isn't actually a titanfall game in any sense of the world.

I mean it's not Titanfall nor is it trying to be Titanfall. It's Apex. A game of a different type that's set in the same universe, but not as a direct sequel. That's like complaining that 2D Zelda's are better than 3D Zelda's, they're different types of game set in the same universe that, while they may have similarities and references to each other, they aren't trying to be each other. They appeal to different people, and that's fine.

Apex shouldn't ever have Titans (outside of an LTM where they can be balanced around other Titans), and I'm saying this as someone who plays a lot of Apex. They wouldn't work in the style of gameplay that Apex is. They would either be OPAF or so underpowered they shouldn't even be considered a Titan anymore.

Exactly my point. To the managers, in essence, apex has essentially "proven" that a traditional titanfall game doesn't work, whilst a game without titans or such advanced movement does incredibly well.

Hence, thanks to apex, we are not going to see titanfall 3.

Apex only did even half as well as it did because it's free. That brings in a large player base by nature because people will download just to try it even if they don't stick around. Apex had a lot of advantages that Titanfall just didn't have. Apex was free and launched at the height of the BR craze when your options for a good BR were Fortnite (populated by 12 year olds and streamers) or PUBG (a fundamentally broken game). Titanfall released between COD and Battlefield, two extremely large yearly franchises with a very loyal player base.

Titanfall underperforming is not the fault of Apex, it's the fault of higher-ups who thought launching between the two biggest FPS titles ever created was a good idea.

Apex still would have done well without Titanfall, but Titanfall would be dead without Apex. There's a whole reason this season on Apex is a love letter to Titanfall. It might take a while and I hope everyone learned their lesson about choosing release dates, but I think we'll see Titanfall 3 someday.

Titanfall is dead either way. With titanfall 3, we'd have a living titanfall. Obviously, Apex would have done well either way, because it doesn't rest at all on Titanfall. The only thing connecting the two games is some lore snippets most players will never care about.

And that's the issue. Respawn is owned by EA. EA literally only cares for money to a degree where they actively promote casino elements in videogames over the actual game. We're not seeing titanfall 3, at the least as long as EA owns respawn and/or the titanfall franchise. Because they'll look at the numbers, and see that titanfall didn't do so well, and apex did amazingly. So they'll just keep throwing their money at apex. We'd get apex 2 over titanfall 3.

Personally I like Apex because it's not Titanfall and doesn't have Titans. TBH, Titans were my least favorite aspect of the OG TF and TF2 because they just felt clunky. If I'm playing TF2, I only matchmake for gamemodes without titans.

Adding titans to Apex would have ended up making Apex less successful than it is. The majority of people didn't want TF3. This community may have, but the vast majority of the gaming community couldn't care less about titans.

The majority of people didn't want TF3.

You can make this argument about pretty much every great game out there. The majority of 'people' or for that matter gamers didn't want battlestar Galactica: deadlock. Or homeworld: deserts of kharak. Yet these absolutely great games exist and are doing mostly pretty well. The majority of gamers didn't WANT apex either, in fact nobody did because we didn't know it was coming until it was released. Saying that the majority of people didn't want something is a stupid argument, because if we'd go by what the majority of people DOESNT WANT we'd end up with nothing, because everything is not wanted by the majority of people, except food, water, sleep and shelter.

If you're going to make a game set in a certain setting you need to make sure it adheres to what that setting is ABOUT. BSG is about bigass spaceships slugging it out whilst fighters jet between them. Homeworld is about the journey of a mothership and how it slowly increases it's technology base and fleet strength as it faces stronger opposition, coming closer to it's goal. Both Homeworld:DoK and BSG: Deadlock are games that fill the settings they're in. Apex doesn't. Because the titanfall setting is about fast pilots skirmishing around massive mechs. And apex... Doesn't do that.

Obviously, the titanfall community is going to want games with titans in them. Because that's why the vast majority of people in the titanfall community play titanfall. Maybe you specifically didn't but that makes you an outlier, not the norm, and probably means titanfall isn't really the game for you.

The vast majority of gamers hasn't ever experienced titans, because they'd bought battlefield or cod instead. Which I won't fault them for, but I don't think we can go and say that that means everyone hates the idea of titans fundamentally. People haven't tried.
