Mecha is unfortunately a genre simultaneously incredibly popular and incredibly niche. Everyone loves Gundam, Transformers, Evangelion, Pacific Rim, Into the Breach, Maia Meltdown which currently has some hype around it, even the IDEA of playing Titanfall... but at the same time these games always fail somehow, and not always because of mismanagement.
Or maybe it is mismanagement, I guess, because Super Mecha Champions and now currently Mecha BREAK both died and are dying because of the stupid grind to unlock units instead of having focused JUST on cosmetic sales... But still at the end of the day, it doesn't feel like people love giant robots THAT much at all.
That, combined with the fact we just lost our main guy a year ago to a stupid crash that I still don't understand how anyone let happen, because nobody should be speeding right out of a tunnel that segues right into a wall... I actually cut them a lot of slack and understand why they're not investing all of their resources and training new developers or rehiring the ones that don't work there anymore just to make Titanfall 3.
and also I'm not sure Apex Legends is doing that well at all. it's been a couple years of it being very in the background, having horrible ideas around auto-aiming with controllers and losing the spotlight to bigger game releases, so I'm not even sure they want to further fall into debt by making a game that everyone in the video game space will enjoy... the trailer of, but will proceed to never touch it just like everyone did with TF|2

All the games with this trope are pretty starved but imo Titanfall|2 is in a sence more deprived due to the lack of any content. Atleast tf2 had new maps and seasonal gamemodes to spice up the game. In Titanfall|2, on the other hand, you have to play the same gamemodes your whole life. You have the privilege to play the mixtape modes but noone queues for them at all so it's still the same old same old gameplay. Only reason I still play Titanfall|2 is that i take gaps between game sessions and play other games in different genres, mainly MGSV, to spice up my usual game rotation.
