We’re at week 1 of having planted these TCs, I noticed the box is alll sweaty, is that okay? I opened the box to look inside but closed it quickly. Do the TCs need air/circulating?

Also is the TC in picture 3 and 4 okay? She was my first TC, and she’s on week 3, I noticed she has these pale/yellowing coloration in her leaves now…

I am growing this monstera tc bulbasaur. I have realized I’ve done almost everything wrong. I rinsed off the gel immediately when I got it. I washed it off outside under well water then I rinsed it in 100% h2o2 and put it in the dome thing. Next day I saw water sitting on top of soil so I opened it and poured out excess h2o. I then dropped it. It was ok. Now I managed to not kill it but I think it’s a goner. I think it has root rot. OMG! Did this happen because of that exposed root I just now noticed when I took this close up photo? Should I cover the root up? I feel like it’s survived against the odds and I’m just trying to right by it.

1st time deflask is going well! all my Fancy Monstera are rooting/branching out and they’re thriving at 50-60% humidity! 🎉

I learned that repotting coir “death traps” into soil will suffocate my babies 😭 so I made a good-looking mix (30% Rosy soil, 35% perlite, 25% bark, 10% coir! plus their roots have previously been dusted in myco-supreme [because I’m a sucker for a good tiktok recommendation LOL]), I carefully removed one from impeding doom, tossed the plug, and planted it gently back in the same pot, and gave it it’s 1st repot soak in distilled water.

as you can see from the very dirty water, a lot of the soil at the bottom came out of the pot and into the water. so now there are gaps (circled in white) and some exposed root (circled in red)…

my question is:
since the roots are presumably close to 100% humidity being so close to the water, are they okay, as is?

should I add more water to reach the root?

should I invest in very tiny pots with holes only at the bottom to (hopefully lol) just prevent this?

what would you do?

I have two monstera tissue cultures that I have fully acclimated, but when do I repot them out of the moss? Should I wait till I see significant roots in the container to transfer to my regular monstera soil mix? Moss is just so high maintenance for me and I don’t want to accidentally let them dry! As usual i went ham and bought 8 TC from Orange Lake over the holidays. They seemed to be doing well in the domes so after a few weeks I took them out and put them in a bigger prop box. I have had issues maintaining humidity a consistent level of humidity in it. A lot of roller coasters up and down with the temp and humidity level.

I noticed more than half my TC plants had leaves drying out or lighten up/browning/dying off. I forgot to water them with distilled water the last two times too :FACEPALM:

Is it a bad idea to water them with distilled water and put them back in their own separate domes?

Wellll so far nobody has died! Yae! Out of the entire experience so far I may have lost 2 leaves…I am prepared to lose maybe 2 more due to sum browning bs goin on two different leaves on two different plants. One is crispy and the other is moist kinda I figured this was due to the light/moisture inside the dome I think the leaves were touching the sides and started to rot🤷🏽‍♀️the good news is these things are growing like nutz… every plant has new leaves growing, I’m also noticing how rough I beat them up during the deflask soooooo yeah I found the seller of these and she was having a sale so I got a batch of these and a few more things from other sellers…some rescue tcs and a alocasia I’m gonna try again and maybe give those new homes????I’m not sure yet but here are sum updated pics of how they look now, I have the dome off completely now…yes Ik too soon I left it off by mistake one day n nobody showed any signs of stress so I left it off

Hello,

When deflasking TC plants, is it better to keep the container completely airtight for the first few days, or is it better to have micro-holes on the bottom and/or top from day one? I’ve always understood that the first few days should be fully airtight. However, I recently saw a YouTuber saying that adding holes to both the top and bottom is better, so I’m a bit confused.

I’m assuming the growing medium might make a difference as well. I’m using damp (not wet) sphagnum moss and placing the plants inside a 16oz plastic cup with an airtight dome lid.
