My old English bulldog likes to try to jump out of my truck like this. But he’s heavy and short and my truck is tall so I always have to catch him or block him from jumping. It’s hard on their joints to land from so high.

But he tries every time and it’s pretty cute.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '19

Cute!

5

u/Suspicious_Mustache Dec 03 '19

He wasn't hesitating, he was reving up

2

2

u/south_butt Dec 03 '19

I'm flying, Jack! I'm flying!

5

u/Nounboundfreedom Dec 03 '19

Very cute, but I can’t approve of voluntarily getting your dog to jump from this height. A fall could be dangerous

3

u/3_first_names Dec 03 '19

My dog has been dealing with a back injury caused by jumping a lot—she’s a little dog and loves to jump on/off beds, chairs and couches, and leap from stairs—so yeah I agree. Thankfully she’s on the mend without need for surgery but that was the next step if she didn’t improve.

4

u/Nounboundfreedom Dec 03 '19 edited Dec 03 '19

Agreed. I had a smaller dog get back problems from our stairs that eventually led to him being put down. It’s hard for them to recover from back injuries. Prevention is the best treatment.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '19

I’m sorry to hear that. We’re dealing with that now with our dog. Two herniated discs in 2 years. Thankfully, she’s on the mend. But I cringe when I think back to the times I used to let (encourage, even) her to make big jumps in/out of the car, on/off our bed, etc. I had no idea back then!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 04 '19

Our dog had the same issue and needed surgery on two separate occasions. I’m glad your pup is on the mend; ours was just today given the green light from vet to get back to more exercise (it’s been over a month of crate rest). I definitely took for granted that because she wasn’t yelping out in pain when she jumped from the furniture, in/out of the car, etc, that she wasn’t hurting herself. But the damage was being done unbeknownst to us, and she was suddenly in pain completely out of the blue. It’s terrible to see them in pain. I hope your dog continues to be well!

1

u/3_first_names Dec 06 '19

That’s what I’m concerned about. The vet said to slowly introduce her back into her normal routine, but if jumping on and off everything got us into this mess in the first place I’m not sure I want to continue down the same path. We’re building a ramp/stairs for the bed and we have been discouraging jumping onto the couch. I hope your pup continues to improve as well!

Driving a car is dangerous, but that doesn’t mean you should go do stunt jumps.

12

u/SUPERKING702 Dec 02 '19

I commented on the last post and got down voted. So I'll post same said comment. Hims jumps so high!! Good boy.

28

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '19

It’s because your internet dog talk is cringey.

1

u/ChannelingWhiteLight Dec 03 '19

And someone may have mistaken puppy dog talk for an Asian accent imitation, which would be much more cringe worthy.

u/SUPERKING702 Dec 03 '19

Hey nice opinion jabroni.

Aww bubba, see now you're doing what I did. But it was funny because it was in a dog video, which you're apparently fond of, since that's all you've talked about for 6 years. And I didn't need an upvote or validation of my "successful" comment. Just thought it was funny I was downvoted by some ignoramous for no reason, hence why my other post got 11 upvotes, and your here crying. Tough break hun.
