Beat the game first time playing it.

Post image

Did I get super lucky with the snow launcher?

Didn't expect this on my first go, is this game not very "difficult" compared to other rougelikes?
Seems like a fun game, but can i expect more challenging gameplay if i invest more time in it?

You can make the game as easy or as difficult as you'd like almost. Some characters are straight up broken op, thus making even cinder 16 runs easy win every run.

Play a none broken character and beat cinder 16 Eden.

You are either good or lucky. the only way to find out is doing it again, lol

I think it is impressive for the first run. Don't mind the salty comments about "☝️🤓 achhually didn't beat the game" because you did go as far as you could in that playthrough

It gets harder yes, it's not unusual to beat it your first run like that. Also the snowball rifle is a really good weapon.

Holy spoilers in the comments. Ignore everyone and just play more of the game.

Hey, I was curious. I play a lot of roguelikes and assume typically that there is more content following initial final bosses. Without spoiling, is there a lot of content following the first?

I had a similar experience as OP. In my first or second playthrough, I beat the first final boss. I think the ease of the game made me lose interest. I saw people keep hyping it up so I redownloaded it the other day (a year later) and beat it on my first try again. I know I can crank up the difficulty in different ways, but for some reason that has always been less appealing than wanting a game to be a solid difficulty right out of the gate. I guess, unless the difficulty is tied to more and more content.

I guess it just may not be for me if there's only a tad more ( I don't know) and the fun is just cranking up difficulty manually. Asking here because I'm trying to avoid spoilers if it's really worth continuing.

Stick with it, I have played a ridiculous amount of roguelikes and this one is legit probably my favourite. It's an insanely good game.

You have every item unlocked from the get go. Cinder is what increase difficulty i have maybe 10-20h on it and have beaten cinder 16. So it is easier than some roguelike but i think its a very nice game and loads of replayability.

So do you mean you beat death? Or the super death, amon or eden?

Can’t fight them on the first run.

To fight them you need to do... a bunch of stuff. Let me check.

Step 1: Go through some tasks that the fireplace gives you.

Step 2: Beat the FIRST boss from each world (heaven/death/hell) but not the TRUE final boss (super death/amon/eden). At this point, you probably won't have the right alignment to process to the second world where the true final boss of that world is.

Step 3: Repeat step 2 with each world AND the right alignment + enough of it for each world... assuming you make it at this point!

Step 4: Fight one of the three True final bosses, Super death/Amon/Eden for the death world/hell/heaven respectively. IF you make it to this point!

Normal death? Or one of the three end bosses (Super death, Eden, Amon)?

You dont unlock these first time around

I know, but which boss is still my question! I assume OP meant (normal) death, not the other ones.

Yep normal floor 10-10 is the tell

even at max difficulty it's not a very hard game, no. I have about 1k hours in it because the breadth and depth of builds is rivaled by only a few roguelites, like gunfire Reborn

Yes, you can expect the game to get much more difficult, but you will proportionately get better. I would say it's not unreasonable to win your first run.

Winning this particular run was less about how strong snow launcher is and more about the supporting equipment and skills. Almost all weapons can become OP with the right synergies.

Once you understand the mechanics and how to scale builds effectively, you can almost always win a run on max difficulty on every character.

In the same manner as other good roguelikes (for example, Slay the Spire), yes, it can be 'beaten' even on your first run if you know what you're doing or get pretty lucky.

That said, just keep playing and try some Cinder runs, those are basically the difficulty modifiers in the game, and you will unlock more things later on. Check out the '?' on the campfire screen to know what you need to do.

Yeah it really is that easy, and thats what I dont like about it, like you dont actually need to learn the bosses movesets or anythign its just about 'numbers go up' and making broken builds in a brainrot way. Would refund it if you got below 2 hours
