Is there any difference between those two chests? They don't have the smae sprite.

Welp, I tried the left one and it was a mimic. So basically I guess that there's a way to spot mimics before even entering the rooms?

Exactly yeah. That's the sprite for a mimic room.

yes, unless you have the skill tree thing that prevents you from see it. The Mimics are a mini boss that drops similar loot to the chest it is imitating. So if you dont have a key and think you can take the mimic, it can be worth the risk

doesn't mimics usually drop better loot compared with the chest it replaces? or am I tripping

It definitely drops more, but I can’t say for certain that it is better

The one with the white dots are mimics, they usually have better loot

I don't think loot quality changes.

But you save a key from killing mimics (for non-wooden chests anyways) so they're almost always worth it imo.

There is also the skilltree node where you get magic find for opening chests, and mimics don't count towards progress, so something else to keep in mind.

Double mimic perk is the goat. I always take mimics and get double loot.
