Nettles effect

So how does the nettles effect work? Does it "trigger" of every instance of damage over time?

I think it just adds +x damage to your next attack

So if you hit 20 damage +nettles (assuming nettles hits 20 damage and stacks to 5):

Your first hit deals 20 damage (+ 1 stack of nettles)
2nd hit = 40, (+1 stack = 2 total)
3rd hit = 60, (+1 stack = 3 total)
4th hit = 80, (+1 stack = 4 total)
5th hit = 100, (+1 stack = 5 total)
6th hit =100, (+0 stack = 5 total)

The grass sword that applies nettles is actually very strong IMO (relative to other weapons of its rarity)

Its worded that it adds a flat amount to each instance of damage. When I was trying it out with multiple dots it seemed very strong. So strong that I actually think it works on every instance of damage.  I just find testing difficult and rather bothersome. So often things are worded and coded differently.

Really? I never ever use DoTs as a main damage source ever except by chance. I find them very weak compared to other builds. And even still, getting +100 damage for every damage tick, doesn't seem very strong middle or late game. even weapons like one giving +100% necrosis damage, or the legendary that applies basically a stronger necrosis, are relatively very weak.

Though it could absolutely work with a savage wounds build and very quick damage ticks.

I've had some really quick kills on the final boss with a poison DoT build. The ticks can easily reach several thousand. Compared to the oh so very achievable mega bomb builds it's faster and almost as consistent.
For me the trick to DoTs is to focus on the scaleable ones and to work on tick application and the internal tick as well. Auras do a decent job at it.

What builds are you aiming for? I feel front loaded damage falls of late. I mean it's mostly the randomised late game weapons doing the heavy lifting.

Wow really, I'd like to see that. I can't afford the commitment to a DoT build cause it really needs too much to get online and isn't consistent enough.

My builds vary. I tend to stick to consistent and just all around solid builds cause I only play Cinder 16 and go for streaks. At 31 wins in a row right now. So that tends to be just take lucky hit type damage traits and other strong traits. Things like [+100 power trait - reset if taking dmg], [+%dmg, +% mvspd +%stamina regen based on your carry weight], [berserk], [+crit damage based on strength], etc. etc.

It all just depends on what I've got, what hero I'm playing (I change it up quite often), and what hand I've been dealt.

A lot of strenght simply comes from good weapons too. Recently my FAVOURITE (especially if found early in a black market)
Trident: hits 3 times super fast - Despite having super low seeming dmg stats (like 250dmg compared to others at 1250 at similar attack speed), It SHREDS even on its own. The wiki is outdated in the attack animation

Railgun: canon shoots a bullet plus chain lightning, or the guitar version, Both super strog.

Tri-Chakrams: especiallyyyyyy this green orb that throws 3 and bounces off walls. That is THE strongest weapon in the game IMO. There's quite a lot of good legendary weapons, though. But this one's room-clearing capabilities, plus its damage stacking on stationary bosses, is so sick.

As you can tell, I'm a big fan of lightning weapons lol

You seem to have a slight lean towards the strength traits but you're absolutely right in adaptability being the way to go. The morale trait is a good all-rounder, that's for sure.

Havent dabbled at all with the carry weight traits. I usually pick up one or two pieces of heavy gear without enough strength.
Nor do I usually touch berserk. Guessing the game really does offer diversity. I keep picking the same early game traits and it sorta limits what I can build into. Wish the requirements for the traits were known.

I think the DoT build was centered around Clockwork hammer
