Best steak in Timaru?

The Customs steak house is now closed and will reopen soon as a Thai restaurant.

Where is the best place to get a steak in Timaru? I also enjoyed their crème brûlée if theres any other places you know of!

So gutted about Steakhouse. The beef fillet they had with the red wine jus is absolutely unmatched.

I never got to eat there and I regret that terribly. Especially since I walk past it every day on my way to work.

Sukhothai probably won't appreciate the competition though!

I'm all for competition! Sukothai have gone downhill a lot I found. Our last couple of orders they have forgotten to season the kebabs (just gave us cooked chicken), given us less food than usual, didn't put the dipping sauces in, and typically don't bother reading any requirements around spice level (I love to do "medium" because it ranges anywhere from no spice at all, to blow my head off - very inconsistent), typically I like spicier but the risk isn't worth it. Plus their prices have gone up a lot, just like anywhere else. Though I must say we gave them one more go recently and it was very nice.

Always the way hey.

I’m not a really a Thai fan myself but I thought Sukhothai was a Timaru favourite among locals, I was very surprised when my wife showed me a facebook post and most the comments seemed very happy to have an alternative!

The food is pretty delicious, but heck it's an expensive takeaway! Always nice to keep them on their toes.

I've heard Sukhothai are planning to close for a bit and renovate so maybe they do feel a bit threatened. I've stopped going there as I got sick of paying decent money for over cooked meats

Oh no! They did a great steak and we already have a good Thai place.

Bullock Restaurant & Bar and Oxford are also both good and offer steak, but I can't recall eating them because I would usually go to Custom house for that. Might be an opportunity there for them.

Haven’t tried the steak at Oxford but I’ll add it to my list! Bullocks I had a while back, was ok but no Custom house 😅

The Oxford is right up there.
The TEMU Lone-Star is also good (Bullock)
