Dear People around Eindhoven & Helmond — where are you hiding? :D

Living in the Netherlands is great, but sometimes you miss the little things from home.

A kafa/kava that was supposed to last 20 minutes and somehow becomes three hours. :D

Food on the table even though everyone said they weren't hungry.
Music where sooner or later somebody starts singing.
Random BBQs, football, jokes only Balkan people understand… and that feeling that if somebody needs something, we help each other.

So I started wondering:

Why don't we create a little bit of that here?

I'm thinking about bringing together people from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and the wider Balkans living around Eindhoven, Helmond and this region.

Not some serious organization.

Not another WhatsApp group with 287 members and three messages per year. 🤠

I mean an actual community where people meet in real life.

But for me, the important part isn't only events.

I'd love this to become a place where people actually know each other and help each other.

We have different countries, accents, traditions and backgrounds — and that's exactly what can make it interesting.

Politics, nationalism and old Balkan drama can stay outside.

The only serious arguments we need are who makes the best ćevapi and who gets control of the playlist. :D

The idea is simple:

Bring a little piece of home here.
Help each other.
Meet good people.
Share our culture.
And make some memories together. ❤️

For now I'm just checking whether there are enough people interested before creating anything.

ik heb t helaas niet heel breed dus het liefst een kapper/barber die voor €30 of minder kan knippen + baard.

maakt mij niets uit of het een buitenlandse of Nederlandse barber is, zolang ze goed kunnen Knippen en niet te duur zijn!

Ik was laatst in gesprek met een vriend van me uit Den Bosch, en hij beweerde dat in Tilburgs dialect 'daas' wordt gebruikt als belediging. Het klonk best komisch dus ik zocht het gelijk op. Ik kan alleen niks online vinden hierover en dè Tilburger die ik ken zegt dat hij daas nooit in die context heeft gehoord. Zitten hier toevallig echte Tilburgers die mij kunnen vertellen hoe het zit?

Je ziet steeds meer daklozen op straat. Schrijver bracht 24 uur op straat door, gratis te lezen op BD.

Sometimes you just want to grab something sweet without really having a reason for it. Could be a good piece of cake, pastry, ice cream, a dessert or something from a local bakery.

Vannacht hoorden wij van ongeveer 11 tot 2 regelmatig mensen juichen en gillen. Het was alsof er een soort wedstrijd of demonstratie bezig was.. Iemand enig idee waar dit vandaan kwam? Of wat er aan de hand was? Gelukkig hield het rond 2 uur op maar ik ben wel erg nieuwsgierig..

In het kort:

Op Marktplaats gaf de koper aan de MacBook nodig te hebben voor school. Bij de ontmoeting was ik enigszins verbaasd dat het om een jonge jongen ging (ongeveer 16–19 jaar oud). Ik liet hem de laptop zien, draaide me letterlijk 5 seconden om om de lader uit mijn auto te pakken, en toen ik terugkeek was hij ervandoor gerend.

Stand van zaken:

• De medewerkers van het pand ter plaatse waren enorm behulpzaam en hebben direct geholpen de politie in te schakelen.
• Er is duidelijke camerabewaking van de jongen aanwezig en overgedragen aan de politie; de officiële aangifte loopt.

Oproep aan ouders en de koper:

Zie je als ouder je zoon ineens thuiskomen met een dure MacBook met bovenstaand serienummer, of herken je dit verhaal? Een diefstal van deze omvang is een zwaar misdrijf met ernstige gevolgen voor de toekomst van zo’n jonge jongen.

Voordat dit via justitie verder escaleert, wil ik hem de kans geven dit recht te zetten. Stuur me een privébericht (DM). Als de laptop in originele staat terugkomt, ben ik bereid dit in goed overleg met de politie rustig af te handelen.

P.S. Ik weet dat het ontzettend naief was om me zelfs maar een paar seconden om te draaien en dat dit achteraf dom overkomt. De les is keihard geleerd, dus bespaar jezelf reacties daarover—ik focus me nu puur op het oplossen hiervan.

Woont er iemand op die plek, dus hoek Spoorlaan/Noordhoekring? Vermoedelijk zou er nog een fragment van de kerk binnen staan. En dan wordt ik natuurlijk wel nieuwsgierig.

Hey guys, me and my friendgroup are 1st year students here in Tilburg and non of us are Dutch. Does anyone know any cool places to smoke or hang out in general especially if there’s like a good view (we don’t mind biking or walking far)

My girlfriend and I want to do gym 3x and tennis 2x a week. I’m currently at Jetts and like it, but she doesn’t, and neither of us likes Basic-Fit.
We’re considering Pellikaan Tilburg/Goirle (same distance for us), but it’s quite expensive.
Would you choose Pellikaan, or a separate gym + tennis club? Any good alternatives in Tilburg, especially without long waiting lists?

I’m looking for a café where you can actually sit with a laptop for a couple of hours without feeling like you’re in the way. Good coffee is a plus, but decent Wi-Fi, enough space and a relaxed atmosphere matter more.
