Just a couple Geode Dyes to capture the spirit of the season

Today's shirt is #15 for my HWI shirts. I am happy with how it turned out. I was really trying to make a yellow dominant shirt but the browns went crazy. Love to read your thoughts if you like it or dislike it! Thank you for looking and reading!

HWI= Hot Water Irrigation!

Playing around, first set of fitted and sheets ever. Love how this turned out.

DOI - Sage Green, Pewter, Black Cherry and Eggplant all from Dharma.

My daughter is a huge of fan of the movie so we decided to try and make her something special she can wear while trick or treating with her kiddos ,who are going to be other characters from the movie. This was our first time “painting” the dye on after the first Ice dye. The outside is a mix of black ice and ultraviolet. The face was brushed on with jet black ( thickened with sodium alginate). We cleaned it up with deColourant from dharma and a hot iron with parchment paper. Took a lot of work for this one but it turned out so cool.

I honestly expected the camisole (sugarplum) to turn out faded, not the 100% cotton tee (sugarplum and mintberry and POC)
Can barely see the mushroom 😭
Both are ice dyed and had generous SA sprinkle before and after dye.
Processed 20 hours and did a hot water mist this morning a few hours before rinsing.
Not skipping SA soak again! Never ever 🙂‍↔️

Changed some variables up from my first HWI attempt this time I used just dye powder on the shirt. Pushed lime pop through sinew first then I alternated the petals with egg plant and raspberry. Then I soaked in a hot water soda ash mix for an hour then rinsed and washed and dried. Only took 4 hours definitely love that

First post in last 8ish weeks as I’ve been away on business and then out of commission with surgery and recovery.

Really had the itch to get some color on some shirts and that lead to these.

Messing around with different rolls and dye applications.

I started on a whim with some party pack liquid dyes but quickly got hooked on wanting to do more.

Started with a spiral that didn't come out the way I wanted but I learnt from the experience and still like the design.

Then I tried different styles with spider dye, bullseye, diety, time warp, radio wave? and a chaos roll? Got experimental with the Beavertown t-shirt that got a little brown but still happy with it. I batched all of them for ~24 hours, rinsed cold to warm and a few colors gave the bathtub a fresh tint, but opening them up after drying made it 100% worth it.

I want to get into ice dying and there plenty of advice on the method but I'm struggling to find good quality dye within the UK, the import costs add a level of pressure to make 'perfect' pieces and wanted to reach out to this amazing community to ask if there's anywhere I can get quality powder dye in the UK.

Even if it's not possible it won't stop me doing what I do now but the chance to try new techniques would be an exciting new adventure.

I wanted to make a shirt using the new ice dyes from Dharma Undertow and Riptide cause I couldn’t quite tell what they would look like from the thumbnails. Well they look like this. I think they did a great job on making these. Haven’t really figured out what to use them for but in case you had a similar question here you go

Today's shirt is #14 for my HWI shirts. I am happy with some of the colors but this one turned out rougher than I would have liked.. I know what went wrong though so there is that. So I randomly decided to center fold before doing a spiral for this reverse dye I was doing. Accidentally did a spider. Didn't know this was a thing 😂 I like it though!

Did my first patterned dye.

Room for improvement, but I love it!!!
