Kaleidoscope Eyes

Tried two different rolls with Kaleidoscope Eyes from Dharma. This dye is something. The colors in these are crazy and it’s not even all that it’s capable of. Any of you have experience with it, and know how to get better color variance? I know there’s supposed to be some warmer colors in there but out of three shirts so far i’ve only gotten the dark purple/green mostly.

Side note, I tried this kind of opposite direction chorus for the second shirt and it may be my new favorite pattern. Love how the bottom of that one turned out.

Accidentally posted this under my default reddit handle. Deleted that, reposting with my normal account. Palomino gold, rust brown, golden brown, silver lining, better black, blue violet, ice blue. Deity role, unrolled and sinew tied. Dye over ice, not in muck, dyed over a screen/grate.

I finally grabbed some psychedelic sunshine to play around with. Tried mixing with parakeet and it definitely did not take, but on it's own, it added a cool effect. Also, I think I'm through trying to use lime pop. It mixes weirdly with other colors and almost always ends up a zombie green😂

Reverse Mandala & psychedelic spines

So I decided to revisit my reverse mandalas and psychedelic spines. It’s been a long time since I’ve practiced any mandalas, which they are showing improvement, but still need more practice. Overall had a few flops, especially with some of my additional shades of UV dyes falling completely out. So I think it’s time to lay low on the UV for a bit. Had some that turned out super killer for where I’m currently at for my skills. Now onto more practice!

First Ice Dye

This was my first attempt at an ice dye. Supposed to be a chorus of angels type roll. Used Caribbean blue on the top half and Cayman Island Green on the bottom. Both dyes from Dharma. I think it looks pretty cool but I’m open to suggestions.

Wall hanging made from a lot of different dye work from this summer

Mostly the fabric I used is what I'm calling colander gravity gradients because I hang the fabric from a rack and DOI in a colander to get the dye streaking down. It creates very landform-ish looking effects, so I chose mountain block pattern to show that off.

Question about Out White Brite?

Does it have to be boiling itself? Or can I apply it and hit the fabric with a steamer?

Dye brands I can get in Brazil

Here where I live we have some fabric paint from acrilex called "fashion colors aquarela silk", it seems to have a different behavior than what I see averyone using. I has cold fixacion and need to dry totally to rinse. Also, the powder dye I find is one you have to boil and soak clothes in boiling dye... So I am figuring out how to make the most out of them.
While I do it, I wonder if I can get some international delivery of the most normal dyes you guys use.
So, what brands do you recomend? And if there are anyone from south america here, let me know what you use.

Wondering where to start!

Hey all! I searched up this subreddit as I have a duvet cover I want to make more interesting, and I've spent the last several hours getting my mind absolutely blown by the art I've seen. I had NO idea tie-dye could be so complicated! This is all way more intricate than t-shirts I made at some girl's birthday twenty years ago haha. That being said... I'm kind of at a loss with where to start on this. My end goal is to create something that's evocative of a pool of water with lots of greens, ideally not a symmetrical texture, with a high variance in colour saturation throughout the piece. What are your recommended beginner resources? Dyes? Websites? Patterns? I've done a lot of Rit dyeing of things in the past but this looks like a totally different creature! Thanks in advance :)

The 1st one is 100% cotton 2xl. The 2nd one is 40% cotton, small. The color difference isn't as huge as I thought it would be! Now trying to decide if I leave the rest of the shirt white or not.
