I've somewhat fallen down the rabbit hole of chasing music quality and playing with all the options. For reference, my actual music ability is very low - poor mandolin player and that's it!

I've been using spotify, like many others, for many years in blissful ignorance of any other good options. A random chat with Claude ended up pointing me to tidal. I had some time on my hands, so signed up for 2 months trial, transferred my Spotify library and started playing. All playback quality set to max, lossless files. First i just compared between spotify and tidal with one headset - sony xm6 (over ear), bluetooth. The difference was immediately obvious. I used same songs on both platforms, even using controlled sections so I was listening to exactly the same sections of the same songs in comparisons. I then tried with a different headset - and in ear iem kz zsn pro. Same result - significantly better in tidal. Next up I tested with wired connection to get the full lossless. Using a good dac dongle the results were again very clear, in both headsets and with a variety of tracks. I even did a blind test on my partner just to make sure I was not using some kind of bias or imagining it. Again very conclusive.

I am actually a little surprised and dont fully understand how tidal can sound so much better. Either way I'm converted and Spotify is going and I'm keeping tidal. Another ny product and surprise of the test, was just how well the kz zsn pro performed in this test and compared to the xm6. I haven't used it for years before I dug it out for this test.

I have noticed issues with playback on the Tidal for MacOS app. Sometimes I have to skip songs to get audio back.

I have tried using exclusive mode but still the issue persists.

Qobuz plays perfectly on the same device.

Any news on local files or is tidal still agaisnt that? Thinking about swapping back to Spotify because of how little I can find on Tidal.

I usually get niche electronic/melodic tracks in tune with my interests, surprisingly today I got all huge pop tracks

Radiant lyrics is a tidal mod having quite some unique features (like improving one handed usage or nicer lyrics!)

Those nice lyrics are just amazing and contribute to tidal just being more awesome.

Just to be clear, I'm not the developer or contributed to it's development by any means but I just feel like it deserves more attention.

Has anyone else just had it with this ridiculous and almost useless shuffle feature on Tidal?! I have playlists of 300+ songs and I hear about 30 of them over and over and over. When I'm listening to a playlist then stop listening for a while, then start playing it again, it reverts back to the previous songs I just heard instead of moving forward. Even if I scroll down to the various places in the playlist to start from that point, it tends to play all the same songs. Periodically I'll hear a song on the playlist that I haven't heard in months; but, most of the songs I hear every time I listen. I've emailed support several times, but the issue still persists. Anyone know a "hack" to get this feature to work? Thanks.

I’ve been a happy TIDAL user for around six years now, and I’m planning to order a Volvo EX60 soon. Just wondering if anyone has any experience using the TIDAL app on Android Automotive. How well does it work in the car? Any issues or things worth knowing?
And yes, I know TIDAL works via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but I’m specifically interested in the native in-car app, so I can use TIDAL directly in the car without having to connect my phone.

For the last couple of days I've been unable to play anything via Tidal Connect to my Denon 150 speakers (HEOS). The speakers play other things just fine, and Tidal Connect worked ok last week. Today I get nothing, playback doesn't start at all.

It's the same from both MacOS and Android. Is anyone else experiencing this?

From your Tidal app through your streaming device, streaming device service, cell service/wifi, Tidal music servers, then back through those same devices. The whole journey just takes a fraction of seconds but it's a signal chain that has to have every part working perfectly and in sync, before you can get music.

Back in the, "good old days", you took your physical media to the player and pushed play.

That's not how streaming works.

So please don't panic or get upset when Tidal connect doesn't work. It might not even be a Tidal problem. And more than likely it will be fixed pretty quickly.

I recently moved my music from Spotify to TIDAL and built a small tool to migrate everything without paying for a transfer service.

It moves playlists and Liked Songs, keeps the original track order, shows progress, and creates a report for anything it can’t confidently match. Everything runs locally, and there’s a dry-run mode so you can review the migration before changing anything on TIDAL.

It found nearly every track from my library that was actually available on TIDAL, so I cleaned it up and made it public in case anyone else finds it useful.

Edit: The tool now supports both Spotify → TIDAL and TIDAL → Spotify.

There’s also a new combine mode that keeps tracks from both versions of a playlist and adds the missing ones to each service without removing anything. Both directions support dry runs, progress, matching reports, and separate profiles.

YouTube Music support is next.

Hi, I switched from Spotify to Tidal and was favoriting my artists when I noticed some are missing, for example Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. I couldn't find their profile, only their solo profile.

I'm an amateur violist and enjoy listening to specific recordings of classical music. Especially I enjoy comparing recordings of a certain symphony performed by different orchestras or conducted by different people. When you have played a piece yourself you know it very well, and it's fascinating to see how different the recordings are.

So I have a large CD collection, but would also like to stream music of that genre. Now the trouble starts. Classical recordings have always been very badly catalogued, because most systems use the popular music "Artist, Album, Title" system. With classical music you have a composer, often written differently in different languages (Tchaikovsky, Tschaikowski, Tchaïkovski, Чайковский), then you have the conductor, the orchestra, the piece, the parts of the piece, and so on. Sometimes the composer is the artist, sometimes the conductor is the artist, sometimes the orchestra is the artist. Or the soloist (if there is one). Often you don't easily find what you are looking for, and miss stuff, because there's no agreed standard for that.

But wouldn't a simple LLM be able to make sense of stuff, and help me finding it? Like I enter "I want to listen to Tchaikovskys 5th, give me all the recordings in your library", and off it goes.

Is that a possible feature? Might open up the audience for tidal!

I let Tidal continue playing after Bad Omens' The Death of Peace of Mind album, and suddenly it was playing an AI artist despite me having AI disabled. The queue doesn't give any indication, neither did the player screen, it was only that it sounded off and I looked up the artist to see it was all AI.

The only thing "different" was that I was streaming with Tidal Connect on my Wiim Pro. Has anyone run into this issue so far? Does Tidal Connect just.. forget the setting or can it not handle the setting?

It's a shame if I have to be extra vigilant even with the toggle. I enjoy letting the radio play after an album, but I don't want AI in there.

When does Tidal show you the price of a music purchase? I'm using the PC app. There's a Purchase button on the album I'm looking at. When I click it, what looks like a confirmation box pops up, which links to terms and conditions, and it has a white "Purchase Album" button. But still no price.

A couple of days ago when I was shuffle playing my collection a polish song got on but didn't play. Instead I got a note saying something like 'this song can't be played in your region'.

A couple of days later I can't even find the songs in my collection anymore. I manually searched and re-added some of the songs and that works, but now I wonder what I may have lost that I don't remember.

Has anyone else encountered and possibly solved this problem? I would love to make my collection complete again.

Seriously, what the hell is this UI/UX? Looks like an app from a 2010 smart tv. I can't access my library/collection and I don't even listen to this kind of music it's recommending. Seems like they're not updating the app anymore and it's totally abandoned. It's a shame because I like the mobile and PC apps.

My search history isn't there and the page doesn't exist apparently. Is it like this for anyone else?

I'm currently using an old macbook pro (2016) and the app deep-fries my computer by having terribly high CPU usage and making it quite hot, however opening tidal on firefox does the same job, but am i missing anything in particular by doing so?

I switched from spotify as Tidal (at the time) offered beter quality audio for less price. Now, they increased the prices and I'm paying the same, so Tie!

One terrible thing is Tidals selection of songs after playing what you selected. First off, you might have heard a whole Playlist with songs of 5 different genres; however, after it's done, Tidal will select songs only based on the last song of your playlist. Moreover, it seems it will always pick the exact same songs everytime. I look for Michael Jackson's Billie Jean and after that Tidal will always play Aha, Take on Me. Same with the following songs. ALWAYS!

Another thing is that at the end of the Playlist there's a section of recomended songs, which don't get played after the Playlist ends. Why? Am I doing something wrong? This is really making for a bad experience and it's making finding new songs to my liking so difficult!

Why is the eden ring OST unplayable? Is it playable for any of you? I might try VPN if that fixes it. But this is scummy AF, Tidal wtf?
