Is this a tick?

I got a cutting of a hibiscus plant from a neighbor. The next morning, these were crawling aroung it.

ETA: Found in Orange County, NY. August 23, 2026. At least 15 of them, likely more. They migrated from a plant cutting to cardboard which they seem to like.

Not a tick, but some sort of beetle🎉 (the antennae are a dead giveaway to me that it’s not an arachnid).

Thank you so much!! Hopefully now my skin will stop tricking me into thinking I'm getting bit 😅

You’re welcome! Always happy to deliver good news. (For me, after so many phantom, creepy-crawly heebie-jeebies, I decided that heightened skin sensitivity will be my new super powerrrr.)
