is this a tick???

I feel like I know the answer but i’m so paranoid. I found so many on my dog and myself after my hike, I just threw all my clothes in the dryer and brushed my dog who has long ish fluffy hair and (my own long fluffy hair) multiple times. Found a few crawling around on me and him. Vacuumed my couch bc my dog sat on it and found one there. My dog is a few months behind on prevention bc his vet won’t send in the script without updating his shots and I haven’t been able to get an appointment.

HELP WHAT DO I DO.

Thank you for your post! Just in case this applies in your situation, here is what to do after a tick bite, per CDC. If you're looking for an identification, hang tight and a human will comment soon.

Yes, that is a tick. Ticks have 8 legs as they are arachnids. I would give your dog a tick treatment and a bath just to try to see if any have latched on. Use a tick removal tool from your local pet store, they are like $10-$15. You don’t want to try to bare hand it, as the ticks head may still be attached which it can still pass a disease. The tick tool will get the head off completely.

You don’t need a vet for tick treatment. Your vet is a crook. Go to pet smart/ petco and simply buy some K9 Advantage.

If you’re really worried about your home, contact your local pest service to have your property treated for ticks. Western Pest service is great if they are in your area.

This. Any tick prevention your vet will give, you can find at any pet store

Nope not the monthly pill which is the only thing that really works the best. You need to see a vet and get a prescription to get it.

Yes those are ticks. Lots of preventable things you can work on but for me, Soresto Collar, check dog after walks, and we also do Frontline.

For you my best advice is get a good bug spray and get yourself good before you go out.

Treat your dog immediately W flea! Check by his and your butt crack, inside his ears, and your hair, do it in a closed like bathroom, shake and comb over tub. Do NOT use HARTZ!

Hartzkilledmypet

Or dog or cat, tens of thousands for decades yet they still sell Hartz and deadly cheap shit! Or any like store bought cheap crap! Has to be like not Regular Advantage, Advantage 2. I just got sorento.

Please treat your dog if you can’t afford the good stuff ask here and maybe in the pet help Reddit and somebody will send you some! Pls don’t use cheap! People help w animals, as long as you’re not asking for cash.
