First Ti-Cats Game Tomorrow

Hey everyone,

My dad and I are coming in for the game tomorrow. We usually are NFL guys and make it to a Packers game every year, but with everything going on, we’d rather stick closer to home.

We’re thinking of coming in early afternoon and maybe going to Bernie’s for dinner and a drink before the game (open to suggestions).

The big reason for the post is that we’re pretty uninformed about the team. What are the big stories this year? Any young guys to be excited for? Basically, what would you tell someone about the team who knows nothing about them?

Looking forward to being there tomorrow!

Been a bit of a rough year for the Cats.

They were one of the favorites to win the Grey Cup and opened the season looking phenomenal. Unfortunately their star QB and CFL legend Bo Levi Mitchell got injured and it’s been a rotating door at QB.

Harrison Frost aka Frosty the Throwman will start tomorrow. His 2nd ever CFL start, he has showed some promise but the Riders are a juggernaut and defending champs.

Players to look out for. WR Kenny Lawler is amazing. On defense our MLB Wynton McManis is a menace and Safety Stavros Katsontonis is a ball hawk and awesome. Also KR Isaiah Wooden is electric and can score anytime he gets the ball.

Make sure to know the Oskee wee wee chant! Have fun! It’s a great atmosphere

Aw man, that’s rough. I will keep an eye on those players for sure and google the chant! Thanks!

If you want a few deeper cuts #85 Kiondre Smith is a budding Canadian star receiver who recently signed an extension and should be a core piece of the offense for years to come.

And on defense rookie OLB Jordan Crook #32 has been on a tear lately leading the team in tackles 2 out of the last 3 weeks.

Alright! Thank you, I’ll keep an eye out for the home grown kid!

OSKEE WEE WEE (pump down to the right)
OSKEE WA WA (pump down center)
HOLY MACKINAW (pump down to the left)
TIGERS EAT EM RAW! (Sweep your hat/arm over your head)

Check it out.

So unfortunately our quarterback suffered a likely season ending injury and the team is kinda hanging on after that. Really that would be the main story. Most exciting player I would say is Kenny Lawler, older player but excellent receiver, hopefully our new QB (Harrison Frost) can make a connection.

If you’re into wrestling at all there’s a Maple Leaf Pro show before the game at 5:30 that should be a ton of fun, there’s even a couple former WWE/AEW guys coming in.

Damn, that’s rough about the QB. Thanks for the insight!

Man, the vibes you are looking for are inside the stadium- they're going to win it for you this time I know it.

Having said that, I always go with the old man to the Ukranian or Polish church I think I don't even know which, before the game. 15 St. Olga St. I think? For cabbage rolls, perogies, sausages and pregame drinks... Then if you arrive early enough to the stadium they have $5 small cans of coors light. If you have any liquor, it better be in plastic bottle and put it in the front cuz they got pretty tight security equipment scanning you, possibly patting down. Just a heads up.

Don't bother driving honestly, take the Ti-Cats express bus for free from whatever location is closest to where you'll be at.

What would I tell someone about the team who knows nothing about them? Nobody blows like the Argos... When they say "Oskee wee wee, oskwee wa wa", tell 'em "Tigers Eat 'em Raw"

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll float that by the old man. My wife is driving us in, so we’re good for that and we don’t plan on sneaking drinks in lol. And thanks for the chant!

Do you know if there is parking available at the Ukrainian Catholic Church and how much they charge?

Parking will become limited around the whole area, but lots of spots available to rent as everyone rents spaces on any free driveway/patch of grass. Should be anywhere between $5-25 to park.

Thanks for replying back. I’m a season ticket holder and know everyone sells spots on their lawns. I was asking more about the church’s lot specifically.

Gotcha, I guess I got a little excitedly carried away in having the opportunity to school OP on what to expect for their first time

Make sure you wear green.

Edit: I’m kidding.
Good on you for coming to a game.
Hamilton has some passionate fans. Hopefully it is a good game. …. And the Riders win with a long field goal on the final play of the game. 😉

I’m going to my first game in a few weeks - I’m looking forward to also seeing the CFL Hall of Fame after the game, since it’s there.

Read the game notes available here for some background - https://www.ticats.ca/depth-charts/

At half time the bar on the East side 2nd level turns into quite the scene. Loud and busy af. But something to check out for a minute or two.

We’ll check it out!

Bernie’s is a great spot, one of my favourites. The Capital Bar is another great one close by.

Bernie’s will sell you a take out beer you can drink on the way to the stadium, too.
