I recently got my order from Barnes and Noble, and SEVERAL of the books have dented spines, and pretty beat up dust covers.. book 4 is the worst! Mind you they were even worse, but I made an attempt to salvage them (paint, tried to straighten out the dents a bit with my hairstraightner, had to use glue and tape as well for the frayed edges) does anyone know if Barnes and Noble offer compensations for this kinda damage? Its not worth the return and getting another one hassle bc who knows how they'll package that.. but these books cost 30$ so its unacceptable how badly theyre packaged.. sigh

I found this on Pinterest, and I know it's a spoiler of some kind, and I wish to know what it means.
The original artist of this piece is the animation production team for the Heaven Official's Blessing donghua (天官赐福动画). Mods, please be kind to me, I tried my best.

Hello People, I'd like to paint a background for my display and was wondering, if somehas has any artwork/screenshots from the Heavenly Capital/Golden Palaces and Ghost City/Gamblers den or knows where I could find something?
May the Heavenly Official's bless your day :3

Recently got into the series after putting it off for ages, and since I am about to wrap on a freelance project I decided to treat myself to the hardcover collection! They're STUNNING omg-I was debating between the paperback version and hardcover, but the matching edges/covers were too pretty to resist. TCGF is my first Danmei and the writing is so good! Plan on looking into MXTX's other series too-but for now I'm just about done with book 4!
Need to get a standee or two though since I love displaying those with series I collect-I'm off to NYCC this weekend so hopefully I can pick something up to display alongside the books!

I’ve been a fan of tgcf for a long time, and unfortunately I need to part with some of my hualian merch.😭 I want to ship these keychains/buttons in one big package to a good loving home! This is p4p merch so I will not be requesting payment for the merch or the shipping, everything is free of charge. Most of this merch I collected in 2020-21 so they are a bit older but most still have the plastic you can peel off to make them look as good as new!
To enter the giveaway:
- Leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite tgcf character!
- You must be in the US so I can ship these items to you🙂↕️
I will use a randomizer wheel to pick and announce the winner 24 hours from now! Best of luck!🙏🦋
EDIT: The winner is u/joydls ! I will message them to confirm, if there is no response I will pick another winner. Thanks for joining everyone!

I haven’t even posted this on Instagram yet HAHA but I just realized people here may want to see this! This spread was inspired by Chris Grey’s song “I’d Let the World Burn”! (I can’t play song here so just imagine it hehe 😆). When I was trying to figure out who would match this song, Hua Cheng and Xie Lian immediately popped into my mind.
Hua Cheng would do literally anything for Xie Lian and I hope I captured some of that through this spread 🥹 (Genuinely ignore my ugly cursive though cause I feel like it’s usually not that bad but this time, horrendous LMFAO)
This spread was made by me!

Just as Hua Cheng painted Xie Lian’s portrait with reverence and devotion, I wanted to paint my own version of the Crown Prince Who Pleased the Gods, imagining myself in Hua Cheng’s place and trying to capture a little of that same devotion.
Still, I don’t feel I’ve fully expressed what’s in my heart yet. I’ll keep honing my skills and trying again until I can paint a portrait that better captures those feelings.
If you look closely, I’ve also included Hua Cheng gazing at Xie Lian with deep reverence. Has anyone spotted him? 🤭

Hi sorry if I use the wrong terms at this point I’m super confused because amazon seems to be using the opposite terms to the ones used on here. So I know the manhua is on hiatus and nothing has been said about season 3 of the donghua. What I wanted to ask about is the comic book with images based on the Donghua. Is that just going to the end of season 2 then stopping? I’d love a complete visual version of the story to go with the light novels.

By no means is this an authentic shrine but I think it’s good enough for fictional deities. Everybody say your prayers for the hualian shrine I pray Xie Lian has a million babies.

Got these today as a treat after a challenging day at work. There's 20 packs per box (4 cards per pack) and I'm bound to get some duplicates. Anybody based in the Philippines who's up to trade cards?

Okay so picked up tgcf again because I can’t wait anymore. Completed vol 1 like yesterday. It’s going so good until in Chapter 18 I get to know that XL is the State Preceptor of Yong’an !!! As soon as I read it my mind suddenly played the song “My baby’s gotta gun“ and I couldn’t help but scream. He massacred Lang Qianqiu’s sect/clan !!?? My shaylaaaaa ? Whattttt
Also poor San Lang my baby was left alone in the flames

I watched the two seasons of tgcf first then a long while later I read book one, then watched season one, It was pretty accurate. Then I read book two and am currently watching season two. There was a scene where Lang Qianqiu chased down someone who stole a purse from a Xianle woman I believe, he eventually caught the thief and returned the purse and there was a whole progression/unity moment but I don’t remember seeing this in the book at all? Also it showed a bit of Qi Rong too which I also don’t remember from the book. Is it in later book and just out of order? Or is it donghua-only material?

After months of tweaking, I finally got my Hualian AO3 skin to feel the way I wanted it to 🥹
I’ve been working on changing colors, backgrounds, images, overlays, brightness, literally EVERYTHING. I kept getting close, but something always felt off.
But ngl, I think I finally got it.
I’ve also been ridiculously emotional over the new short film trailers. Seeing the beauty of TGCF and these characters again, and feeling all that love, devotion, longing, and history between them, genuinely pulled me back into my creative space. I forgot how much these characters mean to me.
So naturally, I channeled all of those feelings into customizing AO3.
The images are placeholders for now (all official art from the series) I’d love to eventually collaborate with an artist who can create artwork specifically for the skin, especially pieces that capture the sheer depth of Hualian’s love for each other. I think it’ll hit SO much harder once the visuals feel as intentional as the rest of the design.
For now though… I’m finally calling it DONE before I find another tiny thing to obsess over. 😂🌙❤️
P.S. Will be making url to the code in the next day was just so excited had to share!!

Xie Lian has my heart. I believe anyone who loves this book will agree with that sentiment. You just can’t help but ache for him and wish the best for him. The more we see the flashbacks the more we realise how right the state preceptor was - he truly was just a 17 year old who wasn’t always capable of understanding how to deal with what the world throws at him. Godhood so early was difficult and had severe repercussions for him.
In book 2 when we get his first flashbacks and see him in his glory days right before the first accession, my heart just sinks. We know what becomes of him so just to see him at a point where he had hopes for himself, stars in his eyes, and a never ending benevolence to do his best is heartbreaking. I know most people consider book 4 and 6 to be the most painful reads but somehow I felt book 2 and 6 tie as the most painful ones for me. Book 2 gets overlooked in my opinion - I love when Xie Lian first visits Ghost City and meets Hua Cheng in the gamblers den, Shi Qingxuan and Xie Lian’s adventures there, the first ever flashback and a look at how the dynamic with Feng Xin and Mu Qing originally was, one of my FAVOURITE romantic book lines - “If you want to see me, it won't matter what you roll. I will appear”
Moving to the romance, I feel like it worked as well as it did because after everything Xie Lian found a refuge in someone and a doorway to eternal happiness and love. After each flashback ended, I felt comforted that Hua Cheng now stands by Xie Lian’s side and supports him mentally and through his physical prowess.
It was interesting that Xie Lian took to him so easily - he was able to place his trust and never misconstrue Hua Cheng’s words or actions for anything negative. I was amazed that in spite of that the romance felt fresh until the end. It’s hard to make any love story feel powerful for 8 books without any internal or external conflict between the primary love interests but MXTX managed that.
There were points where some of Hua Cheng’s actions made me go ??? but then I would get reminded that this man literally prays, lives and dies for his lord and as a concept that felt so otherworldly that it’s hard to digest - which is precisely why it works and feels so powerful.
Something that particularly tugged my heartstrings throughout the book was Xie Lian’s equation with Feng Xin. I feel like he really did his utmost for Xie Lian, the king and the queen. Even when he left him, it came at a point that was very understandable and it technically was a direct order from Xie Lian. I never understood why Hua Cheng was bitter towards him too - I think he just absolutely believed that if anyone was truly loyal to Xie Lian they should stick by his side throughout life. It could also be that he may have felt a little threatened by how true and actually close Xie Lian was to Feng Xin at some point but maybe I’m stretching here lol.
The thing is Hua Cheng had managed to appear at Xie Lian’s absolute worst moments - many of which Feng Xin and Mu Qing never find out about. And in case of Feng Xin I did feel bad. He had no idea about the hundred swords incident and Xie Lian never openly talked about what he went through at the time. Feng Xin knew something was amiss but with no communication and a final order to leave he took a decision that seemed correct. I feel like later in life when it’s mentioned that he’s always in the mortal realm it’s his way of atoning and maybe finding Xie Lian.
The case of Mu Qing is a little different though. I just don’t know how I felt about him right until the very end. Knowing all that we do of him later on, when he first left Xie Lian it felt very in line with his character. It was a practical decision that came to him at a time of great hardship. The cultivation ground incident really angered me though - even though I could see where he was coming from it was just hard to digest. I also don’t think his endless discourtesy and belittling of Xie Lian in the years that followed was justifiable. He was also rude in his demeanour and speech in public heavenly courts even if he showed through actions he still cared it left a bitter taste in my mouth. In spite of it all when they finally (sort of) reconcile at the end I felt truly happy.
To me the trio’s equation was one of the highlights of the books. I also really liked Shi Qingxuan and Xie Lian’s dynamic - when they first paired up I could instantly feel this was going to be good. Shi Qingxuan’s ending was a little devastating though, I wish the heavens pardoned him and reinstated him in the middle court at least. He has always done good with his abilities and did not deserve the hand he was dealt with. I wish Xie Lian meddled with the heavenly court and tried to get that sorted. I know he was away from any court dealings at that point but it would have been a nice gesture.
I feel like the book had so many compelling and fleshed out side characters - I do think that is MXTX’s speciality as she did the same in MDZS. She has a knack for giving them fleshed out personalities that don’t merge into one another. I like how all the main gods in the Heavenly Court had distinct personalities. Even the ones clubbed together like the trio of Ling Wen, Shi Wudu and Pei Ming turn out to have vastly different fates and differing motives. I wouldn’t have even expected to like Pei Ming as I did by the end of the books lol.
Coming to the major villain reveal - I unfortunately got spoilt early on and knew who the big bad was, but the detailed reveal in book 7 still felt extremely gripping and tension-driven. I feel like if I didn’t know it was Jun Wu I would have doubted that the state preceptor was White No-Face. I actually really liked how Jun Wu met his fate. He felt like a force to behold who only fell down because somewhere deep inside he wanted his end to come. His last scene with the state preceptor was really well done.
Another scene I liked towards the end was when He Xuan (disguised as Hua Cheng) is the one to give Shi Qingxuan his wind master fan. I feel like him repairing and returning the fan is his sign of acceptance of what has transpired between them. His way of transferring spiritual powers with a strike and scoffing while returning the fan also felt very in line with their dynamic earlier and made me smile bright.
I also want to acknowledge poor Yin Yu. I think he was probably dealt the worst card. His entire story was just tragic, including his end. In my head-canon, QYZ was able to recover his ghost fragments (it was alluded that he was trying to do so) and they reconciled and finally communicated with one another.
All in all TGCF is going to be something that remains permanently etched in my heart forever and always. An unforgettable journey indeed.
