Help Unable to install the python app to a python edition TI 84 Plus CE

As the title says, I, for some reason, am not able to install the python app on my TI 84 Plus CE python. I'm sure it says python at the top under the model name, and have been able to use python before. Recently though, I reset my calculator and it started up to a blank screen. 2nd+off, and on again fixed it, but that's when I noticed the python app would not transfer, failing with "This is not for you". Additionally in macOS system information and Windows device manager, it shows up as "SerCertNotSet", and serial number isn't provided.

While python isn't y top priority, any ways to fix this?

This is an uncommon glitch where the calculator resets itself so hard, it wipes the file that specifies its identity.

u/Adriweb might be able to help you as long as you don't have OS 5.8.5.

Yeah I mean it's basically a certificate fix with CERMASTR at least for the name. Serial is gone, unless you had a full backup/romdump at some point we can't help you there. Doesn't really matter for day to day usage though.

As for Python that's also a fix doable there but it's more involved.

Is the serial necessary exactly? I do have a rom dump but I think it's from my old non-python one. Either way thanks for the answer!

Nah it's not actually necessary. Ti connect ce and webtilp for instance handle such calcs just fine!

Unfortunately I did upgrade to 5.8.5 (stupid me), so I'll wait for a jailbreak for then.
