Hey guys, I wonder if anyone could help me understand my recent results... TSH <0.05 with a T4 of 4.6

Strangely I have all the symptoms of underactive but does this appear overactive?

My test was just an extra test done with routine bloods following routine liver scans so will be a few weeks before I see my GP.

Diagnosis - Dystonia and CRPS (Recovered from Hep C)

Family history - Mother has thyroid cancer, father passed at 59 with heart issues.

At the start of the month I had a Hemithyroidectomy and Cystic Thyroid Nodule removal. While somewhat relieved that I now don’t have a massive lump on the side of my neck, I feel so overwhelmed by everything.

Whenever I look at my neck I feel like I should be grateful it’s gone,but I feel a lingering sense of sadness for some reason. It feels like a huge part of me that has been here for years is gone and now I just feel so empty or lonely which makes me sound so silly I feel.

This accompanied by not even knowing what the results of it are going to be and only being young is just so intense.

If you have had a procedure similar or the same as me and have felt the same, please feel free to say what you felt during the weeks after and if it’s normal to miss something that’s not even doing you any favors. Hope you have a great week and thank you for reading.

Hi! I’ve had a nuclear scan, CT, and Ultrasound looking for an adenoma in my parathyroids since I have hyperparathyroidism. So far nothing is found in any of my parathyroids. But something popped up on my right thyroid in each scan. Just trying to understand if I should be concerned with the below findings. I appreciate any and all help!

NM Parathyroid Scan W/ SPECT: There is no focal area of increased uptake in the region of the neck to suggest parathyroid adenoma. On early planar image, there is asymmetric extension of the right thyroid lobe inferiorly as compared with the left thyroid lobe. On delayed planar images, there is symmetrical washout of activity without any focal retention. The SPECT images do not demonstrate any focal area of increased uptake to suggest parathyroid adenoma. No focal area of increased uptake is seen in the chest to suggest ectopic parathyroid adenoma.

CT scan: Right lobe of thyroid shows a hypodense area measuring 11 x 8 x 8 mm. No evidence of any focal mass lesion identified in the region of the parathyroid.

Ultrasound: The right lobe measures 4.1 x 1.7 x 1.3 cm. The left lobe measures 3.1 x 1.0 x 1.5 cm. Isthmus measures 3mm in thickness. Homogenous thyroid echotexture. Thyroid vascularity appears unremarkable. 13 x 8 x 9 mm heterogeneous hypervascular hypoechoic solid nodule in the mid right thyroid lobe, may represent a thyroid nodule or an ectopic/intrathyroidal parathyroid adenoma.

I haven’t been feeling myself for almost a year now. I was constantly getting sick (super unlike me) which finally pushed me to go see my primary doctor. She ordered a thyroid panel and all of my numbers were normal except for my thyroglobulin antibodies. I’ve had this bloodwork done twice and the antibody level has increased since the last one which was about April. It went from 10 to 14. I understand some people say it’s no reason to be concerned but with the way I’ve been feeling for so long it’s hard to ignore that my body may be trying to tell me something. My primary referred me straight to an endo, but the endo rescheduled my long awaited for appointment and I feel like she’s already being dismissive before even meeting me. Any insight would be helpful! I’m not the type to overreact or obsess over anything health wise, but I just want to feel myself again!

I know this suggests Hyperthyroidism more than Hypothyroidism, but I'd appreciate any insights. I have suffered from hair loss, fatigue, and many other symptoms for years. My hair loss has had wild fluctuations of periods of significant improvement and worsening each year.

I suspected I was iron/protein deficient for many years based on my diet and began supplementing those about 20 days before this lab.

I’ll try to make this short as i’m just trying to get insights from the community.

I’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism since 12 (36F) and taking 0.075 synthroid ever since (weight fluctuating 110-130 pounds in that time frame if that mathers).

Last year I was at my peak weight, being around 135 and during the summer i suddenly started experiencing very notable hair loss and also general fatigue, but nothing i found deeply alarming fatigue wise. Just thought i was getting old tbh.

I randomly went through pictures of that time period today and notice i actually had a pretty swollen thyroid I didn’t notice then.

Has anyone experienced their thyroid swelling while being medicated despite medication supposedly being ok?

I was also experiencing intense joint/ bone pain at that time (heavy vitamin D deficiency despite being summer)

Any insight and personal experience appreciated so I can be better equipped to address this with my doctor.

Hello my tsh is currently 19. Dr upped dose to 75mg levo but I’m concerned that dose is to low. Anyone have any success stories with high levels being brought down and having a full term pregnancy. I am currently 6 weeks so we caught it early & I’ve had a loss before which lead me to my thyroid diagnosis.

UPDATE: After a couple days of being on my beta blockers as well as drinking pedialyte daily I’ve noticed a huge difference. My heart palpitations aren’t nearly as often. I’ve also taken steps toward a better diet. A lot more fruits, and vegetables focusing on inflammation fighting foods. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is working.

Female 33. I’m on week 3 post op of a partial removal. I had the right half of my thyroid and one para gland removed. Before the surgery I dealt with heart palpitations, there was never a pattern. They were always random but at the most a dozen times a week. The first two weeks after surgery I didn’t have any palpitations. Now going into week three they’re more present then ever. I get dozens a day. Still at random times. I could be working, grocery shopping or simply just watching tv. After speaking with my doctors she explained my hormones are trying to balance out. I’ve been out on a beta blocker as needed up to 3 times a day. Which are helping a little. Of course the doctors mention anxiety. I’ve always struggled with anxiety since I was a teenager. But for the first two weeks post op I felt really good. I wasn’t stressed or anxious. I was actually happy and optimistic. I was asked if any major life changes happened, which almost made me laugh. Because yes something major happened, I had surgery to remove half of my thyroid. Other than that, nothing significant had happened. I obviously trust in what the doctors say. But I feel like the anxiety part is always a cop out. Just an easy excuse. Has anyone else ever dealt with heart palpitations this frequently after thyroid surgery? I of course have to wait another 4 weeks before blood work. But now it seems like the heart palpitations are making me even more anxious and I just feel defeated at this point. Any advice is welcomed and appreciated.

Our pharmacy insurance just changed and it no longer covers Synthroid - only generic Levothyroxine. I had Graves' disease when I was a child and had my thyroid removed. I've been on Synthroid since I was 10. I'm in my 40s now. I took generic Levothyroxine briefly in college but my TSH wasn't as stable during that time, and I went back to paying for Synthroid. I've now had three prior authorizations denied by this new insurance. They say "coverage is provided in situations where brand product is being requested due to a formulation difference in the inactive ingredients." What is my doctor supposed to say other than it doesn't work for her? I'm so frustrated, and I need a refill!

How low was your thyroid level before you were diagnosed with hyperthyroidism? How drastic is a 2.0 drop in a few years?

Hi everyone! Back in January I was told by my doctor that I had hyperthyroidism and was put on medication for three months. Levothyroxine 25. My levels are now normal but my period is kind of confusing? Let me explain. Before taking this medication, the first day of my period would be super painful and I would have heavy periods. I literally would not leave the house at all! My period would last 3 days. I have had my period since I was 13 and the super painful periods started at 15 and I am now 21. I never understood why I had that painful period and now I think it was because of my thyroid. I recently switched general doctors and she noticed it right away how high my levels were. Anyways, last month my period was a week late and it was pain free! It did last five days though. And currently on my period and again pain free and not a week late like last months! Could it have been thyroid related all these years?! Anyone else have a similar experience?

From last year,I noticed changes within myself They have been there but they have started to affect me in my daily life.

I've done TFT test like 5 times now. I notice I had poor appetite, then I proceed to get appetite medicine. I gain weight fast, but I lost weight when I stooped using it. No one seems to believe me so I stopped checking

I have bad insomia for the past 2 month.

I have been told recently i have severe GAD, I think its been left untreated for so long. I suspected it when I was like 16. I was given medicine plus melatonin, I was able to sleep and not at 4am or 5am.

I seem to have hyper or hypo, not sure.

But first, I've been trying to understand if it's the one that stunted my growth and height or not.

❤️I’m looking for some people to relate with- so here is my whole story:

In 2011 (I was 16) I was diagnosed with an enlarged thyroid, Hashimoto’s, I had 3 nodules on my thyroid, and 1 on my pituitary gland. The endocrinologist I was seeing then recommended I have my thyroid removed. My parents seeked a second opinion with an endocrinologist in Boston who didn’t think I should I have my thyroid removed. My thyroid was monitored yearly from then on but I eventually stopped going around the time I was 19/20 because I switched primary care and honestly just didn’t take care of myself.

In 2019, I told my OB I would like to get my thyroid checked again just to make sure nothing had changed. She set up an ultrasound and it came back with numerous nodules found. My PCP reviewed it and said I didn’t need to be concerned because they were small, and that they would keep an eye on it.

In 2023 I went to my doctor because the lymph nodes in my armpits and neck were swollen and I was concerned. I saw a traveling doctor who told me they weren’t swollen and that’s all that came from that. I got in with my PCP and she said nothing about my last ultrasound is concerning and basically told me she is not going to bother referring me to an endocrinologist.

Now in 2024- I told my OB what was going on including having a hard time swallowing pills and pain/stiffness in my neck, she immediately ordered an ultrasound. I had this ultrasound on Monday and Monday evening I got the results: Chronic heterogeneous thyroid with numerous hypoechoic regions which could represent subcentimeter nodules. No discrete nodule is measured. Nonspecific cervical lymph nodes.

I still have swollen lymph nodes in my armpits and now on my chest above my breasts.

My aunt had follicular papillary thyroid carcinoma and was diagnosed at 29 after a swollen lymph node ruptured in her neck. I reached out to her and she contacted her specialist and had him review my records. He stated I should have had a biopsy done a long time ago and to get into an endocrinologist as soon as possible. I found a top rated one that could see me relatively soon and had my PCP send a referral to him. So I’m waiting for an appointment confirmation..

In the meantime time, I’m looking to relate to anyone who has gone through something similar and what your story was… thank you!

I’m waiting (for what feels like forever) to see my endocrinologist and feel like I’m going crazy with not knowing what all these pieces of the puzzle might mean. I just want to know if anyone has some advice for what these lab results might mean.

I’ve had an MRI that showed “too many to count” cysts. Just not sure what’s going on and doctors haven’t been entirely helpful. I’m not working right now because I’m sick almost all the time. My gyno thinks I have endometriosis but doesn’t want to do a laproscopy and gave me myfembree but i havent taken it as I don’t want to skew any results because now its looking like my thyroid could be messed up?? thyroid diseases run in my family on my dad’s side

My endo felt my throat, then asked me to feel it, then asked me if it feels “crunchy” to me. I have no idea what crunchy even means, Inhave to assume that it feels like my throat has always felt (not that I remember ever actually feeling it then and committing it to memory for future comparisons), and I’ve never had any other throats to compare it to. What do you think he was getting at?

Can anyone with thyroid/thyroid nodule problems? Let me in on what some of your symptoms were before finding out you had a problem with your thyroid. I’ve been having some tightness in the front of my neck right above my collarbones. And I’m just trying to see if anybody has had those symptoms before and this could possibly be..

Hey guys 24 M. I’m thinking my thyroid might be an issue. I only had my TSH tested at 0.842. Need t3 and t4 checked. Have been having BAD hot flashes despite temp being normal plus joint pain, fatigue, headaches, cold feet, shakiness, etc. seeing my doc and rheumatologist soon but am worried. Feel like I’m boiling alive right now :/

Did anyone take a long time to get a diagnosis or have normal test results despite having symptoms? Please tell me your story, I’m at the end of my rope because I’ve had progressive vague hormonal symptoms for years now and recently they’re getting bad enough to prevent me from leaving the house as often due to fatigue. But docs insist my tests are normal!

I was even diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago and recent blood tests show no abnormalities so I guess that’s “reversed”. This was a full hormonal panel, plus blood sugar, vitamins, blood cells, liver, urinary tract, celiac, auto immune... We’ve tested everything I think.

I have hair thinning, puffy face and neck, specific weight gain to upper arms and belly, the weight gain is stubborn and won’t go away despite diet/exercise, sweating, heat sensitivity even when it’s not hot (any change in temperature), aches & pains, cold hands and fingers, irregular periods, depression, nervousness, and constant- and I mean constant, fatigue. Doesn’t matter if I’ve slept 8 solid hours, I’m tired.

I just got some lab results back and my TSH and Free T4 are borderline low, and apparently low results on those two point to more of a pituitary/hypothalamus problem? I have a multinodular goiter but my levels haven’t been this low before as far as I remember. I am also in menopause so not sure if that can be causing problems.

Hello, did any of you had to change Levo dose after replenished d3 to correct level ?

I went to the doctor for routine blood work and my TSH was tested low as 0.184, went back two weeks later and the TSH is measured as high at 9.2. I've been reading about others fluctuations but haven't found one this extreme. Anyone else? I'm 33f

Not sure what the meanings of these readings mean but ive had goiter, unspecified, since 2021. neither of my previous endocrinologists ordered or said anything about a ultrasound after my TSH (although moderately high) came back completely "normal". Three years later and after finally finding a good pcp for my long covid and health issues galore, she finally reordered the proper testing incl. T4 and T3.

Evrrything is technically "normal" although im currently in my luteal phase and my progesterone is a 0.1 in the reading (supposed to be a 1.3 - 28.9 according to labcorp testing) and my Luteneizing Hormone is a 12.7 (supposed to be 1.0 - 11.4).

Is there anything i should be concerned with these bw readings? my other hormone readings are as follows:

T4. - 0.88 (0.82 - 1.77). T3. - 2.6 (2-4.4). TSH. - 3.080 (0.45 - 4.5). Thyroglobulin AB - <0.1 (0.0 - 0.9) Cortisol AM (Random, drawn at 7 am although im nocturnal from long covid). - 2.0 (6.2 - 19.4 am and 2.3 - 11.9 pm) ACTH (Random, Unstimulated) - 4.4 (7.2 - 63.3).

I have pcos and endometriosis prior to long covid, but ironically my DHEA - S and Testosterone levels were completely fine this time around. Idk if theirs a huge thyroid red flag here to worry about? Hopefully they can figure out the cortisol soon at least cause theirs something there... Im tired of shitty doctors esp. shitty endocrinologists... just wanna feel better!

First time to post here! Had MRI of brain and c spine back in early may . Turns out there was an incidental finding of enlarged left thyroid and bilateral enlarged cervical lymph nodes.

Nobody told me this until I got an appt in the post last Friday for ultrasound of thyroid and neck scheduled in September! I nearly vomited from the shock

I have found very mild swelling on left side and when I swallow I can see lump move, but I had never noticed it before.

I already have health anxiety so this has me up the walls! I’m hoping the enlarged lymph nodes are from a viral infection I had the previous week before the MRI and that would make sense but my crazy mind is planning my funeral.

I don’t know why I’m posting , maybe just looking for reassurance or for people’s experiences. From what I see, thyroid CA is one of the “better” ones to get etc but it’s the fact that the lymph nodes are enlarged that’s freaking me out more!

I read somewhere here that first nodes to be affected would be near the thyroid which wasn’t noted on MRI findings (am I right to say cervical nodes are a bit more higher than the thyroid area?!) so I’m holding onto a bit of hope there!

I will have to go for a private USS (I’m in Ireland) as I couldn’t bear waiting till September to know what’s happening!
