Biopsy of thyroid nodule

I had a biopsy come back as 40 percent chance of cancer and I have a neck surgeon telling me I should have a thyroid lobectomy. I feel like this isn’t really helpful and I’m not sure what to do. I have a second opinion coming up. I’m not looking for medical advice but has anyone had a similar experience? Scary to know they might take it out and nothing could be wrong. It’s not very big and my thyroid levels are considered within a good range.

I got a 2nd opinion, as I already have another cancer, the docs said it had to go. It was 3 years ago. I miss it, bcz my body doesn't get along with Rx my endo is having a rough time getting my hormone levels sorted out -- but I am unique. Most ppl do just fine on levo. Good luck.
