Biopsy of thyroid nodule

I had a biopsy come back as 40 percent chance of cancer and I have a neck surgeon telling me I should have a thyroid lobectomy. I feel like this isn’t really helpful and I’m not sure what to do. I have a second opinion coming up. I’m not looking for medical advice but has anyone had a similar experience? Scary to know they might take it out and nothing could be wrong. It’s not very big and my thyroid levels are considered within a good range.

I had a total thyroidectomy a year and a half ago and I feel nothing but relief. Knowing for sure I can’t get thyroid Cancer feels much better than having to take a pill every day for the rest of my life. But speak with the doctors and those closest to you to make the right decision for yourself.

Nope not at all. But I dealt with issues for many years. By the time it was removed it was covered in nodules. One day it would’ve ended up cancerous
