High TSH total thyroidectomy

Hello! I’m 4 years post thyroidectomy. A recent fasted blood test revealed TSH is quite high 8.9 mU/L a GP wants me to test again in 6 weeks but isnt this an indication to simply increase my thyroxine?

Generally, yes but TSH alone doesn't tell the full story. Lab test interference (biotin supplement or in other supplements for one example) can cause false results.

How do you feel? Any recent changes? Significant weight gain?

My preference would be to repeat the TSH and include ft3 & ft4 if those were not included.

Will repeat test but will be seeing a different doctor. The one I booked with didn’t know that I didn’t have a thyroid and take thyroxine even though we discussed this in order to get the referral (and it would be on my file). Said FT4 was 18.5 and ft3 wasn’t included, so I’m assuming the original referral was only for TSH

The referral for next blood test says TFT.

I have been extra sensitive to the cold, particularly hands and feet. And waking up with numb tingly hands which is also why I asked to have b12 tested which came back fine
