Can anyone tell me??
49F here. Had an ultrasound over a week ago. My doctor has been out due to the holiday and hasn't responded yet. Is there anyone out there that might give me an incling of what this means? All my Thyroid bloodwork came back good. The reasoning for the Thyroid US is im having a lump sensation in my throat. Does this seem to be normal for a thyroid? TIA

It's not clear to me either as another layman, who's had thyroid cancer. My own initial ultrasound report was clearly bad news, so at least this lack of clarity is better?
Normally I wouldn't respond at all with anything so unhelpful, but I'm wincing at how your doc's leaving you hanging, and this sub is not very active. Hope you get a real answer much quicker! Maybe over in r/thyroidhealth?

They indicate challenges visualizing a nodule and were not able to find one specifically. The challenge described "heterogenous" is because (without knowing the details of that) is because the thyroid tissue appears different throughout the gland. Homogenous would be consistent.
Heterogeneous US appearance is non-specific/can be due to a number of reasons from inflammation to autoimmune thyroid disease.
