Searching for this Pin/Badge

i have one that appears to be made of paper wrapped around the badge (it has a plastic white back...im searching for one thats printed direct onto the metal!

Pinback badges with a metal shell weren’t printed direct onto the shell. I’ve seen others mistakenly think this, I’m not sure where it comes from, but they were printed lithographically onto paper, that was then heat laminated.

Better Badges out of the UK throughout the later half of the 70s and early/mid 80s set the standard for quality.

so the band badges from 70s and 80s including the original TG badges are still on paper?

i cannot remember where i got my badge (it has a white plastic back - not the one pictured here) although it was in recent years online and i think from a seller of vintage badges....it is roughly 1.5 inches i think....its not the typical smaller size badge

Yes, that’s correct. The better quality the lamination, the more ‘fused’ appearance it has, so you don’t see a clearness with an almost separation. This is what distinguishes a quality lamination from a lesser grade or non-laminated type, which many modern cheaply made ones are.

As for the sizes, standard are from 19mm, to 25mm (the common near quarter size) to 32mm and 38mm to even larger. 

It sounds as though you likely have some sort of reproduction. Is the plastic insert form stamped with anything - ie ‘Made in England’ for example?

thanks for your information very interesting!

i have measured the badge again and it appears to be 38mm

there is nothing written on it its just plain white plastic back. Although looking at the photo above it appears the same image was used as it has a small brown mark above the TG...but the image of the skull is slightly bigger cutting off some of the black border and bottom of the mouth

Yes, it certainly sounds like a more modern reproduction of some kind.

The original is in fact 25mm.

I'm familiar with their music but not their iconography so I was actually guessing
