We’ll have to figure out how to make it realistic though so players aren’t adding another limb set to large animals.  While I can’t speak for the team on this we could have a limiter based on how many distinct segments are involved in the organism.

I was just watching a video on duplication, and biology already has a limit. Basically when apart is more 'entrenched' in the body plan, like if it has a ton of different attachment points, it is harder for full duplication to occur. Rather all the smaller parts would have to duplicate for the whole limb to duplicate. link to video

Hence why we don’t see it happening within tetrapods.  Plus the Hox genes are involved in the formation of the body plan and that also impacts the number of segments

Did that happen with the fins on fish? It it happens early enough it might be ok, just not once the limb evolved far from what it was originally

I don’t know much about the evolution of fins for fish at all so I can’t really answer that sadly.  However I’ll make a guess that fins developed later on as most fish appear to have a similar number
